Re: Wife Looking For Admin/Logistic Type Work – Houston

She may already be doing so, but just in case..... Don't rule out civil service/local government employers. While 'the man' almost never pays as well as the private sector, there are generally never any reduction-in-force issues since a lot of positions are considered essential personnel, (even a lo...

Re: Calif dashcam: Gangbanger uses AR-15, flanks, kills depu

Thank you for posting this, it's one I haven't seen. As horrible as it is to watch, these things, (dashcam vid, radio traffic, body mic recordings, etc), become extremely valuable learning tools to current and future LEOs. Even as a civilian employee at my dept, I have the honor to teach our new rec...

Re: First post...

...Don't laugh but I took the NRA First Steps class from a local trainer in the Houston area. Figured I wanted to learn as much about safety as possible before I ran out and bought a gun.... That's a good thing! :cheers2: It's always better safe then sorry. As a newbie gun person, I have been looki...

Re: Will a Drug Paraphernalia Charge Prevent me from Renewal

I just learned something. I did not realize anyone was still getting arrested for small amounts of marijuana or especially paraphanalia. Our guys tend to treat those like Class C traffic warrants that show up. They shake their finger at you, say "I have your current address, get this taken car...

Re: DPS on that new section of George Bush Turnpike

Wow, that's a decent sum for that small little stretch. I know Cedar Park PD used to get paid to run traffic up on 183A, but I don't know if they still do. It was my understanding that the County wasn't getting any money for our section of SH 130 or SH 45. (Of course, that's not to say that the Coun...

Re: DPS on that new section of George Bush Turnpike

The NTTA pays DPS to patrol the tollways. I don't remember how much it was, but it wasn't a small amount. I read that in a news story a while back when tollway speed limits were previously in the news. Brian While this isn't directly related to NTTA, down in Austin DPS is no longer paid to monitor ...

Re: CHL and multiple registered vehicles.

Depends on how that agency handles things. Speaking for my own agency, (an SO), we operate a linked system with the local PD, (as well as EMS, FD, TXDOT). The local Municpal Court files their traffic violation and other Class C warrants linked to the license plate of the vehicle that was involved at...

Re: Keeping Round Counts

Thanks for the input guys. Guess I'm just a little anal and going overboard as I dive in. (Course, I'm not there yet, still waiting on a couple of my surplus 50cal cans to arrive, as well as another 2 cases of ammo). Hmm, wonder if I'm on any cool secret watch lists yet......... :leaving

Keeping Round Counts

Being new to shooting, and loving my Sig probably a little too much, I have been keeping track of everything I feed it. I have a 3x5 card taped inside the case, where I jot down anytime I shoot - Date, Manufacturer, Grain, Round Count. I notice on WTS ads, people make a point to inform potential buy...

Re: A suprise in a box of ammo I bought

Holy crapoli! I've been searching the local Walmarts for a few days to stock up on some of that since it's a great price, but each time they're always sold out of the 100rd boxes. Finally broke down and jsut ordered a case of lawman 124gr from SGA since they're still competitive on them at this time...
