Re: (Another) Lemonade Stand for our Constables

Great news: the CoolCop units arrived last night!

Thanks to the many donations sent from the good folks on this forum - that helped us reach a higher goal than we ever expected. Total amount raised: over $1800!! :tiphat:

When all the donations arrived, we ended up with enough to purchase 26 units @ ~$70 each. The CoolCop company matched our order one-for-one, that doubled our shipment to a total of 52 units! Here is the final breakdown:
  • 6 units for Frisco PD (or other local dept chosen by RoyGBiv on this forum). He donated enough to get all six of these - and asked to get these to his local officers.
  • 1 unit to Houston PD - one of our lemonade customers donated enough for a full unit, and asked if we could give one to an HPD officer.
  • 45 units for our Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's department. We have 28 deputies working out of the substation next to our neighborhood, so they each get one. The remainder will be sent over to the main office, and can be distributed as they want.
We plan to deliver these to the officers this week, likely on Thursday because she has a full after-school schedule until then.

Re: (Another) Lemonade Stand for our Constables

I think I owe an update to all the good folks on here...

Day two of the lemonade stand was not as fruitful as day one, but it was a good one. Final result was over $1400 for both days. That should be enough to buy a bunch of the CoolCop devices for the deputies (even more if we get the discount pricing that RoyGBiv has researched for us).

But the story just got interesting: yesterday, my wife sent a note to the owners of CoolCop to ask if they would share the story of the fundraiser (since it would help promote their product as well). Their response was, "We'd be happy to share, and do more. We'll get back to you later."

Well, it's later, and here's what we saw on their page today: Hey Houston! The sweet and generous Bella will be selling lemonade today at Briar Forest Drive & Dairy Ashford Road. She's raising money to buy CoolCops for Harris County Precinct 5. Hey Bella, for every CoolCop you purchase, we'll donate one.

So, they've effectively doubled the donation with that one statement. If things go well, we'll be able to get dozens of the units for our local deputies - probably one for each car that 'offices' at the local substation on Dairy Ashford - and then some!

I'll let y'all know more as the story progresses. Thanks to all of you who have helped out on here!

Yep, we just saw it also. The reporter was really generous with his commentary. Here's a link to it:

Re: (Another) Lemonade Stand for our Constables

This is getting interesting.

KHOU is planning to interview her this afternoon, and KPRC will probably come visit the stand tomorrow.

We might reach a bigger goal than expected!

Well go check your balance... and see if it worked! I sent her some tip jar money since I'm not buying lemonade!
Ditto!

Vol Texan, I just sent what my wife and I can afford right now. We'd love to meet you and your amazing daughter in person, but we're in Dallas. A drive to H-Town is out of the question for us; At least for now.
Again, thanks, and it did work!

I really did post this hoping to serve some lemonade to my fellow west Houston shooters. I didn't expect to get online donations, but I really want to thank each of you for your help.

I'm looking forward to this weekend, and hope we're able to buy lots of the units for them!

Thanks for the info. I guess she's not going to sell lemonade. She'll give it away for free, with a suggested donation for each cup :biggrinjester:

I wonder if that would be a good work-around?

I imagine, that if any local LEO tries to shut her down, they will face the wrath of the County Constables. Who may not give a fellow officer a "heads up" if he is going to be served a civil service, restraining order, divorce papers etc. You don't want those guys on your bad side.
You're spot-on here, Jusme. If this photo from last year's stand is any indication, I think she'll have plenty of on-site security:

flechero wrote:That's awesome! :tiphat: to your daughter! I'm 3 hours away but if you have a paypal account, I would just make a donation for her cause. Can't do a lot but a straight $10 has to be worth a few glasses of lemonade. Maybe other will also paypal a few bucks and together we can help her buy several.

PM if I can help.
RottenApple wrote:I'm with flechero. Let us know if you've got a PayPal account. I'd love to donate for this.
Thanks much for to both of you for the offer! To be honest, I don't know how this PayPal thing works, and I've never had one. But I did just set one up this morning in response to what y'all wrote above.

:tiphat:

I'm not really sure, but I THINK that all you need is my email address to send to PayPal. So, I signed up for my new PayPal account using the same email I use for working the Texas3006.com site:

voltexan3006 (at) gmail.com

I wish I could send y'all some lemonade for the trouble, but I don't think it would keep well in an envelope.

RoyGBiv wrote:Sent an email via their Contact Us page... Will let you know if I get anything back..

Apologies for the hijack.... Please split into separate thread if this is too far off track. Thanks!
I came across your product recently and am considering buying several units for donation to my local PD. I floated the idea by a few (online) friends and there is some interest in making donations to several community PD's across Texas. Just wondering if you offer any volume discounts for bulk purchases. What would be the minimums for discounts and at what prices? Would we order from you directly or work through a dealer? Etc.

Also.... Would your product be appropriate to "share" among several officers sharing the same squad or are there hygienic reasons not to do so? If sharing is not recommended, perhaps the vest end of the unit can be individual while the rest of the unit can be shared?

Your FAQ is blank, so, your insight would be appreciated.

Thanks!
No, this isn't a hijack at all...it's a great adder, thank you!
