Re: The 1911 now retired from US military service

My Dad had to qualify with one when he was drafted in the Army back in ‘69.

Re: The 1911, My First Love

Some really good suggestions on here, and I may be late to the game, but I’ll second TTGunleather and Don Hume holsters. I have both for my fullsize 1911. The TTGunleather is the “Mike’s Special” IWB which I’ve found to be really well made and surprisingly comfortable for being an IWB holster. The D...

Re: Difficult Bolt Lift on Savage Model 110

Sorry to hear about your issue. I have a Savage “Trophy Hunter” in .30-06 that I bought about 7 years ago (don’t remember if it’s a 110 or a 111, and don’t really know the difference between the two). Anyway, the bolt action on mine is smooth and flawless. So my guess is that yours shouldn’t be trou...

Re: Smaller 9mm CC options

I shot my brother-in-law’s P365, and while I like it, I like and shoot my Shield Plus better. The trigger on my Plus is awesome for being striker-fired, too. My only complaint so far is the grip texture, while perfect for my semi-rough hands, is too abrasive for the skin on my hip when I carry it IW...

Re: IWB Holster Recommendations...

My favorite IWB holsters include TTGunleather’s “Mike’s Special”, Milt Sparks Summer Special II, and Clinger Holster’s “Gear Holster” with cushion, all at around the 2:30 - 4:30 position. For AIWB, you may want something with little to no cant. I don’t carry AIWB, so I can’t really make any recomnen...

Re: WACO TACTICAL FITNESS BIATHLON OCT 12

Anyone going to Waco Oct 23? I’m signed up for Saturday’s 10K 2nd heat. It’ll be my 2nd event. To go along with my budget Stag build and budget Burris optic, I may try a budget Condor chest rig. Anyone use one of those?

That knife is sold through the Combat Shooting and Tactics (CSAT) pro shop. CSAT has a web site and the pro shop is on that site. The knife is called the Pocket Skinner.
Thanks!

Re: Fixed Blade EDC

A while back, Andy put up a post about a knife class he went to and how they used paring knifes in that class. That had me on the lookout for a small fixed blade knife but I never bought anything until a few weeks ago. I was at a class at CSAT and saw this knife (they have someone on staff that mak...

Thanks again for all the great info. If I’m free, I’d definitely like to volunteer and watch the athletes in action!

Re: The Tactical Games coming to Texas

Good stuff, PriestTheRunner! Where in DFW will the games be held? Also, would you happen to have or know of a training regimen for the physical obstacles? I’m guessing wind sprints and lots of Farmer Carries as one such drill, but what about the Rope Climbing Stage for those of us with no ropes to p...

Re: Cascend: Data Shows Wind-Power Was Chief Culprit Of Texas Grid Collapse

Now I’m not sure what to believe. The article OP posted is what I heard at the beginning of the outage, but then other news reports refuted it saying natural gas and coal plants failed more so than wind turbines. They also said natural gas wells shut down as did gas pipelines (maybe pumping stations...

Thanks for the reply and info! And yeah, I hear you on the wait time, but it appears most good leather holster makers have lengthier wait times than before.

Re: Tucker Gun Holster

Now that it’s been a few months, I was wondering how you like your DC-1 holster so far? Reason I ask is because I’m considering that one, the more minimalistic DC-2, or Kusiak’s IWB holster (also a Texas outfit).

Re: COVID and the holidays

My sister and two of her daughters got it after Thanksgiving. They're all fully recovered. Almost a month later, my father-in-law got it and ended up in the hospital two days before Christmas. So his Christmas was spent in isolation in some hospital room at UT Southwest. Luckily, he's now recovered,...

I guess only Wayne gets a second chance in Brockton.

Seriously though. Sure makes me appreciate Texas more.
