Re: Dr. Michael Brown Estate Auction

I went to an auction recently down toward Manvel that had some weapons. Some old, some newer, all well used. The prices were crazy. That's usually what happens at this auction house, too. If the crowd is clueless about guns, there will almost always be someone who thinks "Guns are worth a fort...

Re: Dr. Michael Brown Estate Auction

I am so sorry. I forgot completely that I had promised to post the results here. This data is now many weeks old, but it still gives some insight into what goes on at an auction like this - local celebrity, lots of guns, more than a few knowledgeable gun buyers but not as many as at a guns-only auc...

Re: Dr. Michael Brown Estate Auction

Anybody interested in knowing the prices paid for guns at the auction? I was there and took decent notes.

Re: Dr. Michael Brown Estate Auction

I assume this isn't a forced sale... If it's a simple estate auction, the family could have easily pre-picked the goodies. It's a bankrupty auction. He went into bankruptcy several months before he committed suicide. I went to the preview and was shocked at the condition of many of the pieces. Many...

Re: Texas Gun Talk Hacked

The board was down for less than 2 hours. That's amazingly fast compared to the last couple of times this happened.

Re: Texas Gun Talk Hacked

TGT gets hacked quite often. It wa down for several weeks if not months earlier this year. I stopped going there because of this. I wouldn't say "quite often" but it has happened at least a couple of times in recent memory. Given some of the grousing the members are doing about changes ma...

Re: Texas Gun Talk Hacked

Cripes. This is like, what, the third time in a year. With as many people on there, and as many paying advertisers (me included!), you'd think it could be managed better. Folks on this forum may not be aware that TGT was just sold and migrated to a new server. The new management has run some script...

Re: Texas Gun Talk Hacked

For non-members and the curious, so you won't have to visit the site, this is what shows at TGT right now: http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/l626/benenglishtx/TGTHack_zps5341c7a8.jpg To respond to the OP, yes, it's been seen before. TGT was hacked and vandalized some time back and was offline for ...

Oh.

Dadgum, I'm embarrassed. I didn't read it like that at all. If that's what philip964 meant in his post, then -

philip964, I apologize. It was wrong of me to go off on that tangent.

Re: Anyone live in River Oaks...

Supposedly River Oaks was selected because in the past River Oaks patrols profiled. "Supposedly?" Seriously? Am I the only one here old enough to remember when HPD had no problem with the private security in River Oaks impersonating HPD officers and doing traffic stops of anyone in a crap...

Re: Anyone live in River Oaks...

...remember Blacks and Jews were denied membership to the River Oaks Country Club for much of its history. Blacks and Jews were not permitted to live in River Oaks for a very long time. It didn't matter how much money you had, you could not buy in River Oaks if you were black or jewish. That's why ...

Re: Anyone live in River Oaks...

This says Wiley Park which is quite a ways from River Oaks. The're going to have a very long walk to get to River Oaks. More to the point, it doesn't even mention River Oaks. QX isn't stupid. Announcing a march on River Oaks gets publicity. Why should he bother to actually go to River Oaks, once he...

Re: Anyone live in River Oaks...

In the fourth largest city in the US (hovering on the third largest), the River Oaks community is the most exclusive residential area. With multimillion dollar properties and the River Oaks Country Club and the home of the tennis U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships. Anybody remember the bad old day...
