Re: Recommendations for 1911 (under $1000)

I bought a Springfield Armory Range Officer about a month ago and love it. $800 at Academy. I was looking for the Ruger but every forum I've looked at say the RO was the better choice.

Re: Concealed Gun Survey

Since my last post in this thread, I've become a 1911 lover. My Springfield Range Officer now rides on my hip, with my FNX .40 in my truck. I weigh a buck-45, so I had to get some bigger tee shirts for summer carry to cover the 5" barrel.

Re: My first 1911 :)

Scored 100 rounds of Winchester 230 gr at Walmart and couldn't get home fast enough ;) Very accurate right out of the box. I'm not the best marksman but with 7 rounds I was knocking 6 cans off the fence. Recoil actually seems less than my carry gun, an FNX .40. The sights will be replaced with night...

Re: My first 1911 :)

Yes, it is a Range Officer, and yes it feels like a tank holding it ;)

I'm going to call around and may take a trip to Marshall today. There's a pawn shop that usually has a wall full of ammo (he's the only place around here I can find 5.7 ammo).

My first 1911 :)

Been wanting a Ruger but can't find one, so found this at Academy in Lufkin. Springfield 1911-A1. I've had it 3 days and cant shoot it since the 4 gun stores I've been to have zero .45. I did pick up some .223, 5.56 and .40 but not a single .45 round to be found.

Re: Pictures of your "Black Guns"

Cool, but he used Charlene to kill the Gunny and then himself. That'd be kinda like naming your car Christine.  [/quote] Haha, I watch that movie at least twice a month and that never occurred to me! Oh well, I can't change her name now. And my truck's name is Mrs. HEMI, definitely not ...

Gimme a few Blue Moons and a Red Bull 'n I'll drive ;)

Seriously though, I was hoping those earthquakes (and the bigger one that's supposedly coming) would kind of split off that little chunk of Heaven into the ocean. Just another place I'll never spend a minute or a dime.

Re: have you bought an ar?

I started building mine late summer, and thankfully finished it late November. $2600 or so later (before optics) I have a rifle that is fully custom and one that I know inside and out for the price people were actually paying for jacked up WalMart specials. I hope to get the chance to build a tack d...

Also, according to a FB friend of mine, one of the riders (Patriot Guard, i believe) apparently went down on his bike, so keep them in your thoughts. And if a mod could delete my post in the political forum, I would appreciate it.

RIP Chris Kyle

This may not be the correct forum, but I thought this was a very nice send off to a real hero. An old buddy of mine is a member of Georgetown FD and shared this video.

I'm headed to the one in Carthage right now. It's at the Civic Center on the south/west end of the loop. $7 and I don't remember if you can carry or not.

Score!

While leaving Austin for home yesterday, I stopped at Academy in RR and got a 100 round box of Winchester .40 FMJ. I then stopped at AGL and they actually had .223 Hornady soft points 50 round boxes. Both were under $40 each. Both places had several boxes. To top it off, that cop buddy of mine gave ...
