I used crayon on my XD but between wear and a lot of firing in the summer it got messy. I found paint and nail polish was difficult use on the XD because of the shallow stamping.
My M&P on the other hand was different. The stamping was deeper so nail polish was much easier to use. Also, the thinner cheaper nail polish is easier for filling the stamping and more forgiving when working with it. Don't be afraid of multiple coats. "White Ice" looks great on it I think.

Ok that looks great....hard to believe my sons crayons can be used for something other than the table!
