Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

Welp, if that's the case, the best thing we might be getting out of this session is a reduced fee for something right that is guaranteed in the national and state constitutions. If there is a larger strategy that I'm missing here then I would really like to hear it. I believe that my NRA and TSRA me...

There's a lot of stars up there in that picture. Can't help but think that the communities that these men swore an oath to serve would be better served if they were actually present for duty in their respective municipalities.

Re: Ted Cruz Calls for $14 Billion Seized from ‘El Chapo’ to Fund Border Wall

I saw a documentary TV show about Pablo Escobar once. They claimed that at the height of his power, his organization was spending $10,000 a month just on rubber bands to hold the cash together. It boggles the mind.

Oakland BART Robbery

This is the type of thing that happens where the criminals don't fear anyone.

Re: Good Contact - Harris County Deputy

86 in a 65 and he would probably not give a warning. Do you think the radar detector makes a ticket more likely though? I've been told so by LEOs. It's called pre-meditated speeding. I'll rely on Waze to let me know if there are police ahead and it's usually pretty good especially on well traveled ...

Re: HB421 Reported Favorably as Substituted

Seems like the "security industry" is winning this one. Working in the security industry myself, this whole thing really makes me scratch my head. I know of only one church (and it's a mega-church) in our city that has security and they even have PPOs for the Pastor. There's just not enou...

Re: Who else is a 45acp man?

My Glock 30 Gen 3 is my alternate carry gun (my #2) gun. I usually leave it in my belly band and use it when I walk my dog in the mornings. I've considered putting my light on it but would have to modify my belly band to do that, which would probably be worth it. I really like having all Glocks beca...

Re: HB1911: Rep. White's Press Release

I'm all about training and I feel that the training requirement that an LTC holder goes through is one of the arguments "for" constitutional carry. IMHO there really isn't anything that the average person gains or retains that will make them a better or more responsible carrier. Maybe the ...

Re: On Going Outside to Investigate Noises

I'll let my dog out and he'll let me know if someone is out there for sure. To those saying to wait for authorities, this trooper is and LEO. He knows his property better than anyone that would be responding and would know all the angles to take. I suspect that this trooper may have let the bad guy ...

Re: State Police contact - GOOD

My right foot is heavier than it should be when I'm behind the wheel, hence the number of encounters I have with LEOs is more than average. I have been very very impressed with the professionalism at the Texas DPS. Everyone that I have met has been tactically competent in their approach to my vehicl...

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

Was a little disheartened to read the email update from TSRA this morning..... HB560 is listed as their #5 priority. Hoping that's high enough to push it through. I appreciate the politics of LTC fee reduction in the #1 spot, but was hoping to see 560 as priority #2. I suspect that HB560 is higher ...

Re: KHOU - New bill against carrying firearms while intoxicated

Is there any way to clearly tighten up the wording of the statutes so that having a glass of wine with dinner doesn't mean that you have to leave your handgun at home, but still doesn't allow people to carry while truly impaired? It already is the law. The standard for intoxication for carrying IS ...

Other state LEO carrying at Texas school

Yesterday at a sporting event I noticed a New Mexico State Police officer in uniform and with his duty weapon at an on campus sporting event at an El Paso high school. We were about 9 miles from the border at this school. He was obviously off duty and cheering on a family member. Just wondering if t...

Re: Comp-Tac

I remember years ago watching Gregg Garret as a dancer with Houston Ballet. Never dreamed I'd be seeing his holsters one day. Oh my gosh! You let it slip! Gregg, as (relatively) young as he still is, has had a storied past. If you ever get a chance to sit down and talk to him, he won't voluntarily ...
