Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast

Just a reminder, next Saturday is the day (2/17/18). Who else is coming?

Re: Range Review: Smith & Wesson M&P380 Shield EZ

When I first saw the announcement about this gun I was a little confused, thinking it was a solution in search of a problem. Then I thought back on all the threads here that have discussed an elderly person, or even small statured wife, that has issues racking a normal slide. In those situations a r...

Re: Suppresor Talk/ options

With the changes to the way NFA items are handled, is there as much of an advantage to using an NFA trust these days if you're going to be the only one using the items in your household? Scott pretty well answered your question above, but some other points to ponder. Are you always going to be the ...

Re: Ugh never ever order from.fwtguns.com

I buy stuff on the internet, but a firearm, not me... I think it’s mostly a generational thing. I haven’t bought a new firearm in a store in years. Mostly because I got tired of every gun shop commando telling me I need this or that gun, or being downright rude if I wasn’t interested in their sugge...

Re: Ugh never ever order from.fwtguns.com

Also the distributor needs to send it to the dealer you purchased from who in turn needs to send it to your FFL. That results in many days for transportation alone. Unless something has changed I don’t think this is always true. Many retailers drop ship directly from the distributor. Believe each d...

Re: Ugh never ever order from.fwtguns.com

I ordered a gun from them recently and had no issues, shipped within a few days. First time using them though so who knows.

Seeing right around 6 months right now. Not great, but a
definite improvement over just a couple years ago. It’s all relative though.

Re: Suppresor Talk/ options

I've got a few suppressors (8) now and below are some of my thoughts. 1) Go with a reputable/big name company for your first couple cans. Nothing worse than getting a boutique anything, only to lose support shortly thereafter because the maker closed up shop. SilencerCo, Rugged, Dead Air, SureFire, ...

Re: Sig Mosquito or Walther P22?

TAM, Sig has divested itself of the Mosquito so you’re either going to find used, or as noted the GSG 1911-22 (same gun, different branding). I had a Mosquito for a while, a later model, and as much as I’d like to say it was trouble free, it was not. So long as you fed it the HV stuff, it was ok, bu...

Re: Clean and lube polymer weapons

I use M-Pro 7 cleaner and/or Slip 2000, then lube with either Slide Glide (grease) for pistols or Slip 2000 EWL for rifles. Will probably convert over to Slip 2000 products entirely when it’s time to repurchase grease next time. Very impressed with them.

Re: Switzerland named No. 1 country to live in

I had the opportunity to visit Switzerland several times in college and my early 20s, very nice and clean country. That and the flag is a big plus.

Re: What's Your Preferred Grain in 9mm for range and s.d.?

Up until a couple years ago it was all 115 gr for me. Now that I shoot some suppressed pistols and more so rifles (CZ Scorpion SBR) I typically shoot 147 and even 158 at the range. Big fan of the Speer Lawman 147 gr round, good suppression and easy enough to find in bulk. 124 Federal HST is my self ...

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast

Don't forget, 1/20/18 is the next meeting. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll make this one. Since moving back to the area (finally) for the new position at work (railroad) I have weekend coverage every 5th weekend. Not that it entails much, just keep an eye on the network and such. But, being is tha...

Awesome, thank you for the suggestions. We used to like the Starplex in Lake Worth, but as noted once they became AMC that went out the window.
