Re: TxDOT updates CHL policy for employees

It's in the HR manual (Crossroads | HR | HR Manual) IIRC. We also got an email from HR mentioning HR Manual changes. It was the second-to-last change listed, if memory serves.

Re: TxDOT updates CHL policy for employees

Thanks for the heads up. That item was second-to-last in the posted changes, and is literally in a smaller font than the rest. I don't think it's a conspiracy, it looks like the writer pasted in the Code reference from another site/document and it changed the font for the rest of that item. I just m...

Re: Concealed Carry at TxDOT Offices

Sidenote: TxDOT disallows employees from carrying (specified in the HR manual): Employees will not carry or keep firearms or any other weapons on department property, other than parking areas as described below, while on duty or while representing the department. It is not a violation for employees ...

Re: voting

The You do know that there is only one case of voter fraud for every 15 million votes, which if all registered voters in this election voted would be a whopping 10 votes coming from voter fraud. The voter fraud issue has little to do with voter fraud and much to do with party self-interest. The blue...

I was being facetious in the "modest proposal" sense.

Re: voting

An option for internet-based voting (PKI encryption) would make me happy. Or even mail-in absentee voting without having to claim "grounds for eligibility". My issue with both is voter fraud. There is nothing to keep dead people or people that move out of state from voting. Perhaps to be ...

Re: Texas State Fair 2012

Quick question, as I plan on going to the fair this weekend. Did you verbalize that you were carrying to the person doing the wanding or just instruct that you needed to speak with an officer? I hold up my DL and CHL beside my face and make eye contact as I approach the wand-wrangler. They say &quo...

Re: Texas State Fair 2012

I've had good experiences w/CHL at the State Fair.

One time the officer reminded me a game was in progress at the Cotton Bowl. Useful information and tactfully delivered: well played, sir.

Re: Man With Gun Arrested at Richardson Mosque

I drove through the area this AM on the way home from work (night shift) and saw no obvious gun signage of any kind posted on any of the entrances.

PS: the RPD officer still hasn't replied.

Re: Man With Gun Arrested at Richardson Mosque

I live within a couple blocks of the mosque. I emailed both the reporter and the RPD LEO around lunchtime Thursday, asking about that quote. The reporter replied saying she "was going off of what the police officers told me about the arrest" and added that "concealed handguns were not...

Re: Anonymously asking company to update weapons policy?

My company has not updated their weapons policy since SB 321 took effect. I don't want to draw attention to myself, so it there an anonymous, free way to notify them that their policy violates the law and needs to be updated? If you are running Ubuntu or some other Debian derivative: sudo apt-get i...
