Too many replies for me to respond to individually. The supreme court appointment argument is a valid concern. However I seem to recall the current president considering a right leaning justice for appointment that Republicans seemed to not respond well to. To be honest I don't keep up with politics...

I actually tend to lean towards the liberal side of the spectrum as do a lot of my shooting buddies. I find thay a lot of anti gun people can be more easily convinced and reasoned with when they share some common ground.
