Re: Church Volunteer Security Groups
As long as this bill has been left pending in committee, I am afraid it is not to get much more attention. I would love to see this move forward, but the future is not looking good.

Re: DHS Checkpoint vids
I don't have my Penal Code/CCP/Traffic code handy, but it seems to me that Texas law states that you must present your DL when asked to do so by a peace officer. In the CCP under 2.12 it used to recognize the feds as peace officers. They may not be able to right you a ticket, but you have the duty t...

Unfortunately those called to serve on this ship will be young men or women with an average age of 19-22. Knowing that it will be a couple of years before it is built and put to sea, those who might serve on her are currently in high school and probably cannot tell you who the ship is named after si...

Re: What should you do in different scenarios...
Here is the bottom line and the absolute truth. Until you are involved in a situation you don't know how you will react. Having said that, practicing reacting to different scenarios will help, as studies show you will react to the real thing better if you have practiced a response. I am a former LEO...

Re: Obtaining arrest history/record
For DPS you will have to get certified copies of the disposition of the case. You can order these from the county district clerk in both counties. While in Harris you can download certified copies, the DPS will not accept the download version, they want the page with the raised seal.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: Open Carry with permission?
Well, hopefully Charles will weigh in. But, If the person who has care, custody and control of the property allows you to open carry on his property then I say you are ok to do so. If I was still a LEO and someone called me to the scene about a person displaying a firearm, and it turns out to be an ...

Re: Can I carry a handgun if I am drinking alcohol?
My two cents. I do not drink. I am a former LEO and have lots of experience in dealing with those that do. I am one that subscribes to the fact that one drink impairs you somewhat. I believe if you carry a weapon you should not be consuming any amount of alcohol. NONE. Under current law the decision...

Re: AUTHORITY OF PEACE OFFICER TO DISARM
Well I have been disarmed once. It was by HISD kiddie police. The officer had me hand him the firearm using the old hand me the gun with your thumb and forefinger only... Now I was not upset he did that, I am a former LEO and am all about officer safety comes first and foremost. He did what he thoug...

For those that doubt that the LEO's are exempt here you go. Sec. 545.365. SPEED LIMIT EXCEPTION FOR EMERGENCIES; MUNICIPAL REGULATION. (a) The regulation of the speed of a vehicle under this subchapter does not apply to: (1) an authorized emergency vehicle responding to a call; (2) a police patrol; ...

Re: Carry on TRE (Trinity Railway Express?
If TRE or DART are railroads that subscribe to the General Code of Operating Rules for Railroads, then under GCOR 1.12 Weapons, it is unlikely that as an employee of the railroad Mr. Morgan can carry. Not all railroads subscribe to the GCOR, but most do. Or they could have a General Order that modif...

Re: Denied CHL, appeal 1 denied (spoke to mr cotton)
I will probably offend someone with this, but it won't be the first time. The OP said he had talked to Charles Cotton. After that the opinion of anyone is absolutely irrelevant. Mr. Cotton, (no I have not personally met him) is the single most qualified voice to answer the questions of the OP. It am...
