Re: Normal capacity magazine ban bill introduced in the House

The cure for violence is common sense criminal controls. violence is a manifestation of an underlying problem (or problems). The cure for violence is to find the root cause. We already incarcerate more people per capita than most countries. While I'm all in favor of locking up violent criminals (or...

Judicial elections

Can someone point us "newer-Americans" to some basic info on how the judicial elections work here in Texas? I note on my county's sample ballot a long list of various Supreme Court Justice elections as well as District court Judge elections. It is not clear to me which elections (some? all...

Re: Lead hardness tester

Water quenching really only works if there's a tiny bit of arsenic in the alloy (eg from clip-on wheelweights)
that's good to know, thanks.

Re: Lead hardness tester

Cool toy, Andy.

I'd be interested in any results you're willing to share. eg. for a particular 'lot' of cast bullets: water quenched vs air cooled?

will you be testing any commercial cast bullets as calibration samples?

Re: Australia: Another object lesson in don't give up your firearms

not sure what concerns me most,

# the fact that this is even happening in a 'democracy'

or

# the likelihood that there may be people in this country who don't see a problem with these draconian abuses of power

Re: What kind of bullet is the most used in the active shooting matches

I assume you're referring to action pistol competitions such as USPSA, IDPA and/or Steel Challenge. The answer(s) may vary depending on the sport, the calibre, and possibly auto vs revolver. When I started competing in IPSC years ago your bullet options were: cast lead, cast lead, cast lead, or jack...

Re: .357 Mag Powder

If you're after magnum loads, I have used Blue Dot with standard primers with no problems. Top I do as well. Be aware that Alliant no longer recommends Blue Dot in 357 magnum with 125gr bullets due to pressure concerns. Heavier bullets are fine (I generally only load 158gr in 357 magnum). reference...

Re: .357 Mag Powder

My understanding was that 2400 needed magnum primers, having researched more I see in Alliant's data that is not the case.
I use 2400 without magnum primers without a problem.
