Sounds like you handled yourself well and kept a cool head - always a plus! It also sounds like the officer in question was as mad at himself for having messed up and almost killed somebody, as he was at you for being the "almost victim," and he vented on you for it. I'll bet he was vastly relieved that he didn't kill you, and once he drove away, I'll bet the beat himself up pretty good for being such an idiot.
