Reciprocity slow....

When was the last time we added a state to the reciprocity list? It seems to have essentially ground to a halt. There are plenty of states to work on it would seem.....Thoughts?

A curious Hi Power malfunction.....and a warning!

A buddy brought me a Hi Power by just now. He recently sent it out to have the slide reblued and a set of Novak sights installed. Work is beautiful and was very reasonable. He took it out to shoot for the first time since getting it back this last weekend and it would not fire! First thing I thought...

Re: Low Recoil Buckshot

Well, my thought on slugs anyway has always been that they are for "long distance" shotgun shooting- 50-100 yards. Buck will handle the shorter stuff especially in a gun with some choke. There have been a few reports of the low recoil buck not adequately penetrating on suspects. We tend to...

Re: Shot Two New S&W Model 642 Snubs (No Lock)...

Smith and Wesson categorically denies that there is a problem with the lock. At least one gunscribe from a major publication pronounced it bunk. He was wrong. In speaking with Mas Ayoob he indicated that he personally had seen at least two guns that locked up. Both were J Frames firing "hot&quo...

Re: carrying reloads

Spend the $20 or $30 every couple of years and don't worry about it. In the grand scheme of things that amount of money isn't worth worrying about. It's like guys that will buy an $800 rifle and then buy a $40 scope. I never understood that. You have a license you bought, a class you took, a pistol,...

Re: Low Recoil Buckshot

I shoot full power buck and slugs. I have found that reduced recoil slugs simply do not print consistently at longer distances. The full power stuff does. It just makes things simpler to have to worry about only one poi for each type of ammo-slug and buck.

Re: Amarillo homeowner repels alleged invaders

News Channel Four was fairly even handed in coverage. They quoted one local attorney as saying-"If you are breaking into people's houses and beating people up getting shot should be considered an occupational hazard".

Wonder who that was?

Re: Dog attack and CHL

I have also seen the carnage firsthand that a large dog can wreak. I know a guy who lost the use of his right arm due to having a tendon severed in a dog attack...the guy was a concrete finisher. He lost his job his home and ultimately his wife and family because of the injuries he sustained and med...

Anyone want to take a date on when we go over 300K?

With the current backlogs at DPS I have no idea how many people have CHL's or are slated to get them in the next few months. I do know that every CHL instructor worth his salt is busy as a beaver.... Last figure I heard was 290k currently licensed....more than ever. Anyone want to "bet" wh...

Re: Dog attack and CHL

Amaguy....short for Amarillo? Saw that dog attack in the paper. Know that there is a city ordinance prohibiting the discharge of firearms within city limits. Also know that one of the specified exemptions for this is the shooting of a dangerous dog on your own property. Not of much help when out wal...

Come now citizen, what do you have to hide? Fill out your "Papers" please or we'll have to lock you away for a long time....spitting on the sidewalk being a national emergency! No free showers without the papers being properly filled out!

Re: Got a ticket-strange traffic stop-update...Chiefs Response

I believe that since 9-11 all law enforcement officers have sought "more information and contact" from and with people. Every stop is a chance to catch an arch terrorist at work-or so they see it..... What used to be just a traffic ticket, sign here and have a nice day is now...Who are you...

Re: Polishing brass with car polish

I have used Turtle Wax for years. Only thing I ever had a problem with was when I dumped the cases in before the dollop of polish had broken up and circulated evenly throughout the media. It created a ball of polish and media that stuck in some of the cases...I ended up throwing them away- it was th...

Mr. Camp how "slick" are those hard nylon grips? I have seen them in the Brownells catalog and thought they would be a decent grip but have held back for fear they would be slick, especially with wet/sweaty hands etc....

Re: 2000 Shots Later: Ruger GP100 w/3" Bbl...

I only have one GP100 and it's a 4". I have several of the older Security Sixes though. The gun I own most comparable to the 3" GP is probably a 3" SP101. I have really enjoyed shooting it. It is a little larger than I prefer for bug status but more fun to shoot than my J Frames.
