That last clip is a good reminder of why hi-cap magazines are a necessity.
Or very good with tactical reloads. I carry a 1911 cocked and locked with 3 mags. I have carried 1911's off and on for about 35 years now. I have had a lot of firearms training including 6 Officer Survivor schools. I believe I am competent enough to make the tactical reloads. All guns run out of Ammo eventuallly. 8 rounds, 18 rounds, or 180 rounds sooner or later the gun runs empty.

I still believe a gun without a round in the chamber is just an empty gun. If I was uncomfortable with a round in the chamber I would just carry a revolver.

Re: A Round in the Chamber Carry?

In my opinion if a round is not chambered you are carrying an unloaded firearm.

Re: A Round in the Chamber Carry?

Load your pistol, chamber a round, and make it ready for carry. After that leave it alone. ND happens when we unnecessarily handle the pistol. Don't ask how I know this, but I do know the more we handle the firearm the more likely for human error which causes ND.

Having an empty chamber is NOT insurance for not having ND. An empty chamber just makes your firearm a very expensive club.

Re: A Round in the Chamber Carry?

For decades and still today one in the chamber. I do not want to loose a nanosecond trying to chamber around when I finally decide there is a threat.
