Re: Shooting In Abilene

This is a mess. I am extremely unsympathetic to the shooters even if there is an avenue by which a shrewd attorney may cobble together an effective defense. Their temperaments subvert everything we are trying to accomplish on this forum. BEGIN WILD SPECULATION BASED ONLY ON CURRENTLY AVAILABLE PUBLI...

Re: Maldives: Shame on Accor Hotels for being so insensitive

I've taken my family to the Maldives and we had a wonderful time. We skipped the extremely expensive resort islands in favor of a local island. It was a great experience - but yeah - we knew going in that the country is listed as 100% Muslim and that there would be no alcohol or pork available on th...

https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/curtis-houck/2018/03/08/cnn-msnbc-journalists-give-trump-glowing-praise-north-korea-move Cnn and Msnbc heap praise on Trump over North Korea visit. Re: I want to keep my guns.

Re-institutionalize the mentally ill. Stop letting them free and trusting them to take their pill every morning. Also, quit giving them pills that often have worse (or at least unpredictable) side effects and calling them "healed" or "managed". Have magistrates in each municipal ...

Re: Republican Convention: Cruz supporters planning trouble?

So the goal is to WIN! So let's see. The troops wanting to win select their preferred general. The troops who didn't get their general selected stay home and don't fight for the selected general. That's the way to win for sure. Yeah, right :???: To take this analogy further: It's easy to lay the bl...

Re: Republican Convention: Cruz supporters planning trouble?

I already liked Cruz, and last night he elevated himself several notches in my view. As for the pledge, first, I do think that last night's speech was supportive of Trump and upheld the pledge. More importantly, I think that pledge comes with some basic, common sense, tacit terms and conditions. The...

Re: Sean Payton: Can get 10 guns shipped to your house tomorrow

I put together a compilation of all of his statements for another thread. I'll repost it here for this conversation: He seems to have hit all of the favorites: - mythical online gun vending machine - non-sequitor reference to the UK - mentioning hunting - science fiction-like attributes for a "...

Re: New Orleans Saints defensive end shot

Very odd. New video shows Smith following the eventual shooter, the shooter stopping short quickly, Smith (probably) rear ending him, and then Smith driving off when the other party pulled over. http://www.cnn.com/2016/04/12/sport/will-smith-former-new-orleans-saints-player-killed/index.html Also, w...

Re: What are you currently reading?

I finished the book and highly recommend it. It is really quite an interesting story. It was amazing how Clarence Thomas was attacked by the liberals because he didn't think the same way as they expected all black people to think. :banghead: My favorite line from the book is a quote from Clarence T...

Re: Deterrence value of cameras

Our neighborhood considered installing a commercial camera solution to curtail occasional vandalism at our pool. We looked at the bid and decided not to do it. The reasoning: - The cost would have covered twenty years of the typical sort of vandalism we see (petty destruction of patio furniture, etc...

I'll tell you this: our country could use about 200 million more people with the work ethic of Thomas' grandfather. It's inspiring.

Re: What are you currently reading?

I just finished My Grandfather's Son: The Memoir of Clarence Thomas and would highly recommend it to people from all political backgrounds. It's a marvelous read and eye-opening to learn of the details of Thomas' upbringing and to think how they shaped him. Spoiler alert, he was not always a staunch...

Re: Tarrant County Sheriff candidate Bill Waybourn

I have nothing against Mr Waybourn. By all accounts, he is a good man, but if Sheriff Anderson wants to be our Sheriff one more term, I am happy to have him. That's the beauty of many primary races. . . I love it when you have two people you could support. It makes the decision harder, but the cons...

Re: Welcome to the funny spot on your dial!

I have had so many LEO friends tell me they know another officer who did this that I'm sure it's more urban legend than anything. It's amusing nonetheless: *Male officer pulls over a female driver in her mid 20s for speeding* Officer: May I see your license and proof of insurance, please? Female (ha...

Re: Klebold's mother breaks her silence

My unscientific hypothesis is that video games are a bigger influence than movies as they put the player into the action and the player becomes an active participant. I don't think they have a negative impact on everybody who plays them, but I definitely believe that they could have a major impact o...
