Re: Pedernales Electric Cooperative

I agree, the parking lot law only gives the right to keep a handgun in a locked personal vehicle. I'm just wondering how this effects (legality) existing policies. I'd assume the parking lot aspect of the policy is just not enforceable, but was wondering if there was something more.

Re: Pedernales Electric Cooperative

I work at a PEC office. Those signs are at every office location on just about every door. I was verbally told on my first day of work that I can't carry, but that doesn't prevent our CHL having members from carrying. Out of curiosity, what does this do to existing "no guns" policies (edit...

Re: Quick questions about change of address

Just wanted to post an update. Paid DPS online on 12/2/08, got new CHL in mail yesterday, 12/12/08. Only took 8 days! Not bad!

Re: Plain clothes LEO open carry question

And the answer to your question is that there is no requirement for police to even have a badge, let alone display it while carrying a weapon. PC.46.02 just does not apply to police officers, so there is no law about them carrying, openly or concealed, on or off duty. I would bet they were in town ...

Re: Plain clothes LEO open carry question

Two ways you could have found out if they were police. You could have called 911 about two guys with guns in a fast food restaurant. Or you could have walked up to them and asked which one was the husband. :reddevil I'll have to remember that one for next time. :thumbs2: I considered asking one of ...

Plain clothes LEO open carry question

Today when I was out at lunch at the Wendy's in San Marcos, two plain clothes LEO's came in that were open carrying and dressed business casual. My co-worker and I both eyed these guys for ID's or badges and we did not see any. Do plain clothes LEO's have to display a badge when carrying open? With ...

Re: Advice welcome: choosing sidearm and holster

I would second the pocket carry option. It has changed concealed carry for me. I carry a Kel-Tec P-3AT in a Galco horsehide leather pocket holster. It's no bigger than a wallet, and actually tends to balance out the other side (opposite side of wallet in back pocket). It's not up there in stopping p...

Re: Quick questions about change of address

It's still a risk I'm not willing to take. Say hypothetically, it's been more than 30 days since an address change. How would that affect things?

Has anyone updated their CHL with a new address? I'm still really interested to find out exactly how long it may take.

Re: made by store clerk

Just wanted to thank the OP for posting this and the responses it got. I would probably change a few things about how I would handle a situation like this after reading this thread.

Re: HB1815 vs. 30.06 question

30.05 applies to someone without a CHL. That's what I'm looking for. I knew 30.05 says that the reason for trespass cannot be because of the handgun, but I forgot it also ties that to being a CHL. (f) It is a defense to prosecution under this section that: (1) the basis on which entry on the proper...

Re: HB1815 vs. 30.06 question

Don't get me wrong, I know someone in this situation would most assuredly be fired and it's no risk I'm willing to take, but I'm wondering the boundaries of car carry vs. unlawful carry by CHL.

Re: Quick questions about change of address

Just to make it clear, I have already decided to stop carrying until my new license comes in. I really don't like it, but I'm willing to take the risk of not carrying instead of risking suspension over something silly like an address not being current. I was just wondering what the law says about th...

HB1815 vs. 30.06 question

I don't know if this has been addressed before, so I hope this may still be relevant. My employer verbally told me I can't carry at work. I assume 30.06 would mean that I can't carry at all on the property (including my car). Now consider another employee, not licensed to carry and thus 30.06 does n...

Re: 2009 wish list

I don't know the history of the failed parking lot carry bill from last session, but I would at least like that revisited. I work at a place that has verbally told me I can't carry by company policy. Most entrances are posted with 30.06 signs although the just barely don't meet the size requirements...

Quick questions about change of address

I just updated my address on my CHL. DPS says that they will let me know in 45 days if it's been approved. I'm really hoping they don't take the max 45 days to process like they do new applications. If anyone has experience in this, please let me know. So what are the carrying terms during an addres...
