Re: HB308

From what I see it clears up a lot of uncertainty around schools, particularly field trips, it clears up the confusion having hospitals, churches, and amusement parks listed even though they have to post 30.06 anyway, and reduces the penalty.

That shows it was left pending a month ago... Did they have more testimony today?

This bill is very important to him and he knows the inside workings in Austin and what's going on. I asked him if it would help for us to start making calls and he said if/when the time comes, he'll put out a call to action.
Aye, I was thinking about that this morning as well after seeing some of the comments, but I figured that Charles would let us know if and when we need to act, in order to be most effective.
Judging from Charles' comments and reading between the lines a little if/when campus carry and open carry are moved through the process sufficiently to push this without distracting or taking political capital from the other bills, this will be pushed if it can be. We have seen this formula in past sessions with late pushes when other initiatives are finished.

Stole some of Charles' language about "OC will be nice, but 308 will save lives."
FWIW... Received the following from the Gov. office yesterday.
Good to know that at least my opinion was tallied.
That's a good idea. I did contact Collier and Burton earlier, but not the Gov. It's still a mystery to me why every CHL holder in Texas isn't beating down doors to get this bill passed. The sense I get is that not every CHL holder will use OC but we would all benefit from HB308. I realize it may have some sticking points for some, but there's no discussion or measurable movement of any kind at working toward a compromise to get it out of committee.
Without championing by groups like NRA or TSRA, etc., I doubt anybody that isn't on this forum or follows TFC would even know about the bill. It's definitely the best firearms bill in the works. Especially since I work in places I can't carry that this bill would clear up!
