Re: iOS 5 Release..
I have the 4 and am thinking about skipping the 4S. 3G to a 4S would be a huge improvement, but other than support for Siri (which will only work on the 4S), I don't think I'd notice much difference between the 4 and 4S. My unscientific observation of coworkers with Android phones is that they have ...

Re: Marketing
I get Groupon (google it) coupons in my email, and last week was one advertising regularly $150 (or so) CHL Class for $75 Yeah, I've looked into Groupon, and they normally take at least 50% of the cost of the group. So, if you offered a Groupon for $75, you'd only be getting $37.50 for each student...

Marketing
I know we're all sort of competitors, but would anyone be willing to share some marketing ideas that may have worked for you in the past, particularly for new instructors that don't have a large base of previous students for word of mouth referrals? I'm trying to figure out how to fill classes once ...

Re: chl distribution?
I don't think I've seen anything that has the total number of licensees by county, but the DPS does publish on their website the number of new licenses issued each year by county. That might tell you what areas are getting the most CHLs.

Re: Just wondering
The Texas definition of Zip Gun is:
(16) "Zip gun" means a device or combination of devices that was not originally a firearm and is adapted to expel a projectile through a smooth-bore or rifled-bore barrel by using the energy generated by an explosion or burning substance.

Re: Expenses?
There has been talk for many years about DPS using people's DL photo on the CHL. If Mr. Murphy has anything to do with it, that might finally get implemented the week right after you purchase new equipment. ;-) In this last instructor class they talked about the use of the DL photos for the CHL. It...

Re: [Pre-paid legal service]
The case will be presented before a grand jury who will decide to either no-bill it, meaning they think there was enough evidence that it was justified, or they will return an indictment, meaning you will go to trial. Regardless of how justified you think you were, you will want an attorney for this...

How do you run the range?
I'm looking for some practical advice on how some of the other instructors here run the course of fire at the range. The DPS range had turning targets, but most other ranges don't. For each set of timed shot(s), how do you indicate the start and stop? Do you use a whistle? If you whistle the start a...

That is possible, but I thought his response indicated that if we were armed we were always carrying under the authority of our CHL. Are you depending on the technicality that when the gun is in the car and we are not the gun is legally in the car under the MPA? If so, wouldn't they only have to wa...

Thats what I was thinking. I just wanted some clarification. Also, a guy on another forum seems to think differently and I'm not sure he is right. If he is thats fine, I just want to make sure I understand things correctly. After I quoted the code his reply was... As you see, that is not in the pen...

Re: Prescription Meds and shooting situation
My opinion is, if the shooting is clearly justified, particularly if it falls into one of the categories that are justified by default like robbery, burglary, etc, then it won't matter whether you're on pain killers or not. They might could possibly come back and get you on carrying while intoxicate...

...here's the whole bill as passed: http://www.rc123.com/texas_castle_doctrine.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The 83.001 at that link is a little bit confusing, because it's not actually written as passed. The text in brackets [] was not included in the law as passed....

Didn't take a pic but I gave it a decent review on the way out, it appears to be a correct sign. Cops were all over, I wasn't about to ask/debate it with any of them, but I thought about sending the wife. :biggrinjester: I'm taking the wife and kids tomorrow. We live within walking distance but it ...
