Re: New TSRA Executive Director

I'm late getting in on this thread, just just got the TSRA email announcing the appointment. Congrats Charles! All your hard work is much appreciated.

Re: Negative Trooper Encounter

I don't have any problem being disarmed as necessary by a LEO. I do have a big problem "running" or otherwise recording the serial number of my weapon. This. If the officer had said nothing other than to ask to disarm during the stop, that would be one thing. *IF* he thought you were driv...

Re: More than 800 gun buyers on terrorist watch list

Somehow, I see the following scenario happening: "Sorry, you have been denied from purchasing a firearm" "Why?" "You are on the terror watch list" "Why am I on the list?" "For wanting to purchase a firearm" Yup. I wonder if the good senator would mi...

Another Planoite!

I'm interested, just not able to commit just yet. I am trying to make a decision here in the next couple days, so if the kit stays available I'll definitely let you know.

Re: Letter from TSRA/Alice Tripp

That last line says it all. For the number of CHL holders in the state, versus the number of TSRA members, we need more to join. Even if you don't own a rifle, the TSRA has been instrumental in the passing of the original CHL laws, as well as pro-2a legislation since. If they are to keep making prog...

Re: FFL transfers in Plano, Frisco, Allen, McKinney

I give Tom a big + as well. While I didn't end up using him for my transfer (I found the gun locally so didn't need to purchase out of state), my interactions with Tom while making sure everything was lined up for the out of state purchase were top notch, very professional. I've kept Tom's informati...

Re: how long do i have?

Is that right? I was under the impression that the TR-100 was good for 6 months, that if you hadn't filed the TR-100 within 6 months of it's issuance you had to retake the training in order to get a new form?

Or is my thinking flawed in that I'm looking at it from a renewal perspective?

Re: Which to Carry - OR Both?

im pretty sure it works like this in Texas, but someone correct me if im wrong. if you qualify with a revolver..you may only carry a revolver if you qualify with an automatic ..you may carry both Absolutely correct. You're only restricted on the type of handgun you can carry if you qualify on a rev...

Re: Which to Carry - OR Both?

Jeff ... I would recommend carrying whatever you are most comfortable with as your primary piece if all other factors are equal. I've heard good things about the Kahr as a carry piece, and certainly a revolver is a pretty safe choice for carry as well. Other factors might influence one or the other ...
