Re: Newbie (sort of) disabled vet question

Disabled vets receive low cost plates, registration, and low cost or free DL. The fees on hunting and fishing licenses are also free. The fee to enter state parks is also waived.

Re: 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' shot at in Colo. Springs

On a side note, having played a bunch of paintball (using single shot ones back in the mid 80s), if he kept the paintballs in a cooler after freezing them, and then WD-40d the barrel of his paintball gun, he would have significantly better results with being able to stop someone.

So I've been told.

What a load of ...

It stinks. I know "fighting it" may be a bit overburdensome (cost of guns vs cost of lawyer), but SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE, in authority over the PD in question is willing to do the right thing. He should start at the bottom, and work his way up the chain of command, letting everyone along the w...

Re: Newbie (sort of) disabled vet question

Suthdj: I JUST got off the phone with the folks in Austin (1-800-224-5744). The pleasant young lady I spoke to said that the copy of the DD-214 does NOT...I repeat NOT need to be certified, BUT you must make sure it is a copy of the entire document, and it MUST say "Honorable Discharge". F...

Excellent. Thank you to all.

I do, in fact, have a copy of my 214.

Re: Welcome to the funny spot on your dial!

A buddy of mine (Bill) was an Army MP in Germany just after the Berlin Wall came down. He worked in Customs, and often went undercover with the German police. He related a story to me about one evening, he and a German cop were looking for some East Germans that had smuggled some firearms into West ...

Newbie (sort of) disabled vet question

Howdy all. I had my first TX CHL back in 2000, and let it expire in '05 when I spent a lot of time without a physical address (full time RV'er). Now I am re-applying for a new one, and have read that legislation passed in '07 waived, or lowered the fee for disabled vets. I'm a retiree on 100% V.A. d...
I got carded for ammo by the cashier 1 day and showed them my CHL because it is in the fromt of my wallet with my DL behind it. I got a really funny look then she asked to see my DL.
My reply is SO off-topic, but I must share. In 1981 when I returned home from Okinawa,...

Re: Rules for wally world first time out with CHL

I must reply. I received my first TX CHL in 2000. Around 2003, we decided to tour the country in an RV, so we sold the ranch, bought an RV and hit the road. In 2005, I didn't have a physical address (one that didn't include a PO Box number), so I allowed the CHL to expire. Last year, we sold the RV,...

Re: Military Base

It's a crap shoot. The rules for firearms are dictated by the Base Commander. Anecdotally, I was touring the country in an RV for a couple of years, and we stopped at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma to visit family for Thanksgiving. I had the firearm in the car when my wife drove to the gate, and they were d...

I have one...

...but it's not me, it was my uncle. About 40 years ago, my uncle was 18 and I was around 8 or so. He had a bolt action Mauser that his dad (my Pap) had bought him for deer season. My beloved uncle (seriously, he used to let me hang out with him when we were at those ages), was sitting on the living...

Re: Crime Statistics: CHL v. General Population

Monkey404error said: First off, I think y'all might have been trolled earlier. And second, you'll never see this information anywhere near the Brady website, because it actually portrays CHL holders as law abiding citizens, which goes against their creedo of "all guns are bad, and no one should...
