Blitzkrieg wrote:No offense but those badges sure are goofy looking. I got a buddy who is into all that junk. He even has a border patrol badge, police surplus uniforms, and has sirens withs LED lights in his SUV. Not sure why he wants to pretend to be a cop so bad. I live in the deep south Texas (Rio Grande Valley), I don't think it would work too well in my favor if I was caught walking around with one of those badges. A drug cartel might mistaken me for an undercover cop or a cop might think I'm impersonating a LEO from a distance.

Because we have many home invasions down here where people dress like LEO's, there is a hefty price to pay if you are caught impersonating a LEO. I would rather not want to attract the extra unwanted attention. But that's just me. :woohoo
That guys sounds like he might be missing a couple cards from his deck.

Do they post the proper signage or has there been proper notice otherwise?
If you mean notice that carries the weight of the law, no. That wasn't my point though, I wasn't saying and never thought she was breaking the law by carrying at the BSA event if she in fact was. I do not agree with BSA "prohibiting" or discouraging parents from carrying while on campouts, hikes, events, etc. However, thats not my call. That being said I can't expect my kid to observe the Boy Scout code of conduct if I myself cannot follow their rules and regs, no matter how much I disagree with them. It makes even easier for me to leave my EDC in the car at meetings and at home on campouts since there are a couple of county deputies with kids in the troop.

As for the policy its printed in the parent handbook, scout handbook, as well as on their website. http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/hea ... gss07.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

All that aside I still chuckled at the badge.

Found it

I'm not one of those "concealed is concealed" guys. I was only wondering if they had given proper legal notice somehow.

I would have to make a very smart comment if I saw one clipped on.

Not the original, but a great and funny movie. Could not and would not be made today.

Here's a better idea: Let's just enforce the laws regarding impersonating a peace officer (TPC 37.11). No need for new laws at all.
Nope that won't work. Just wearing the badge with the gun is not impersonating, however it is clearly done to make one look like a wanna be LEO. IMO they need to stipulate one cannot do that with open carry. My opinion, but hey my vote counts as well.
It's okay. They never check with me first either.

I'm not sure I'm on board with the banning of these badges. Sure, they are ridiculous, but as TexanJoker says, just wearing one is not impersonating an officer. I work out (some) and am in decent shape and I get my hair cut the way I do because I like it. It's low maintenance and hides the grey. Some people mistake me for a LEO or Marine. Ha, at my age? Well, that's kinda cool, but if they ask I do say, No. Am I impersonating a LEO? I don't want to be a LEO. I like my indoor job where no one is trying to kill me. Should people not be allowed to look like a LEO too? Besides, if they are banned, we won't be able to make fun of them any more.

Interesting idea, but I don't think I could do it with a straight face.

That would be so funny. I would crack up laughing so hard if I ever noticed one on a LEO.

Packa45 got the age range right. I figure about mid-30's to early 40's. Clean cut.

Saw my first one tonight.

This may not be the right place for this. I thought I'd put it here because I hope I never see one in use again.

I was at my daughter's martial arts school watching the class tonight when I noticed a man enter with a badge on his belt right next to an empty holster right out there in the open for all to see. No cover garment at all wearing sandals, shorts, and a tucked in t-shirt. I noticed this from across the room and thought it was odd that he would have left his weapon in the car or wherever. As he walked by I noticed it said "Concealed Weapon Permit." I'm still shaking my head is disbelief that I actually saw someone wearing one of these and even more shocked that they were wearing it openly like he was. :eek6  :eek6
