If I lived alone, or only my wife & I and she was in bed next to me, of course not. If there were more family members in the house, don't you think it prudent to think that what I heard might be them fumbling around? To the point of investigating before I start blazing away? No, he didn't accidently shoot his son. He shot deliberately, not knowing who his target was. Perhaps there's more to the story than what was reported, but to me, it looks like a bad shooting. Shoot first & ask questions later, does not always work out for the best.
