Re: Houston Skeetogether
Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Still on my radar for a get together if the date fits.Scott B. wrote:Haven't abandoned my desire to get together and break some clays. Since my last post I had my shotgun bag with chokes and various sundry stolen. Fortunately, they didn't get the shotgun itself.
On Friday, I made a trip down to the Briley sales room and picked up some replacements. Very friendly and helpful folks, but beware, you can leave there several bills lighter in the wallet if you linger.

Re: Houston Skeetogether
I'm wondering why #7½ shot is prohibited myself. #8 and 9 give you a numerical advantage for shot count per ounce so I'd prefer it over #7½ anyway.Syntyr wrote:Scott, I am fairly new at this... why no 7.5 shot" all of my R2 rounds are 7.5.Scott B. wrote:I can do Sundays.
#8 and #9 shot, or in between, but no 7.5 and they do want to check as you're paying.
I can always buy different just wondering.

Re: Houston Skeetogether
I've attended the DFW area shooting meetups several times in the past (my oldest daughter lives in the DFW area and we visit often) I hope you pull this off; I tried several l years ago, but the interest was never there. I'd be willing to come even though Hotwells is a good distance from me and if everyone promises not to laugh at my skeet skills. It is a lot closer than DFW.Scott B. wrote:Okay, I'm jealous of the Dallas folks.
We need to get the Houston contingent together for some skeet (or trap). Preferably not on a Saturday morning when I'm teaching an LTC or handgun class, but I'd be willing to skip one to shoot.
On the NW side, Hotwells actually has some nice skeet fields, but no trap.
American is out for the foreseeable future.
I've never shot at the Greater Houston Gun Club, Carter's Country, others. Creekwood Shooting Sports looks great, but is in Conroe. Blackwood up there has 2 functional but definitely not pretty skeet fields, one that doubles for trap.
What say you Houston area shotgun guys & gals?
I'll stay tuned.
