Re: New Stephen Hunter Book
I tried one of his books for the first time earlier this year and I couldn't put it down. I've now read almost everything he's written (with an exception to the one you just posted about). He does tell a good story!

Re: Firefighters dodging ammo
The whole "ammo cooking off" fear is pretty overblown. A cartridge forcefully ejects a bullet when chambered only because all the pressure is vented in a single direction -- straight down the barrel. You could drop a handful of cartridges onto a campfire and they would burn, but there is ...

Re: Loaded magazine briefly exposed
At somebody's suggestion on this board, I started carrying my spare mag in an inexpensive belt knife sheath with a velcro flap. Its exposed on my belt for all to see - but you can't see that it is a magazine. Never a problem and the mag stays in place because the flap is velcro'd over the top. This ...

Re: Air Gun Suggestions for My 65 yr old Dad Please
.22 caps are a good option as mentioned above. As far as air rifles, a good value is the Ruger Redhawk. They come with or without a scope and with various stock setups depending on how much you want to pay. They are good air rifles for the money. For a little more money, the RWS mentioned above is a...

Our twin boys are 13 - we still monitor who comes and goes in public restrooms even with them. After their first season of tackle football however, I think they have quickly learned how to apply maximum physical force if need be.

I am very sorry to hear of preacherman's passing. I liked visiting his website and I'm glad that it will continue in his memory. Great info on that website.

You've got to respect the fact that the guy appears to carry two full size 1911's concealed. I guess that's what you do when you own more than one:)

Re: My hatred of the .40 S&W, by request
I've only shot a .40 Glock once and I did find it "snappy". Does anyone here have experience shooting a .40 vs .45 in the same gun platform? Felt recoil has a lot to do with grip design and bore axis height, etc. Saying the recoil of a .40 in a Glock is much worse than a .45 in a 1911 is a...

Re: Saying Good Bye to the M9?
Regarding caliber, keep in mind that the military can't use expanding bullets - therefore ball cartridge bullet diameter is key. A .45 would be superior to the .40. I would think a .40 cal ball would have the same stopping power issues that the 9mm ball has. .45 ACP ball isn't exactly the hammer of ...

Re: what would you do?
As others have pointed out, the "foot" shot may be wishful thinking. However, along those lines (avoiding richochets, minimizing chance of hitting innocents, desiring to break down BG's mobility, etc.) - kneeling and taking an upward trajectory pelvic shot is suggested by some. This has th...

Yes - last time I had jury duty. During Voi Dire (sp?) the defense attorney asked how many of us were members of the NRA, owned guns and which of us had our CHLs.

Re: HB681/SB321 Parking Lots Bill is on the Floor
School district employees will still be prohibited from keeping a gun in their vehicle while at work. This would not apply to school district employees who also hold a CHL though would it? I'm also interested in how the new parking lot bill would apply to employees who work on fedral property (or i...
