Re: Mitt Romney is addressing the National Rifle Association

Ron Paul is the right's version of Ralph Nader. Never a serious contender, but just bothersome enough to pull votes away. If Obama's re-elected and there are any close states with significant write-in Paul votes (enough to have changed a state), he'll be as reviled as Nader was to the democrats in 2...

Re: It just never ends... Mob rule wins the day?

I guess that's the converse of the 'a good district attorney can indict a ham sandwich' saying.

I suppose we'll have both Martin's mother and Zimmerman's father on the stand claiming it's their respective sons' voices.

Re: Stand Your Ground in Danger

We have discussed before, and I in detail how that tape doesn't amount to anything. It was poor resolution, 8 hours after the incident and EMS had tended to GZ as well as the contacting officer on scene documented the reported injuries and grass stains on GZ's back. So if that's what your hanging y...

Re: Stand Your Ground in Danger

A vigorous cross-examination, getting Zimmerman flustered to the point of blurting out something or contradicting himself. Followed in short order by a plea. *edited to add: Not that the prosecution will prove it, but that fact will come out in cross, or Zimmerman will fail to keep his story straight.

Re: Stand Your Ground in Danger

This is the biggest red herring of all. Martin "wasn't committing a crime" ... NEITHER WAS ZIMMERMAN! So you get two guys, both a little nervous about each other. And they meet face-to-face (won't bicker over HOW this happened or who started it, because it doesn't matter). So they meet, a...

What I really find funny is that Romney has banned more guns than Obama. ;-)

Re: It just never ends... Mob rule wins the day?

Murder 2 is probably over-charging, but I could see Manslaughter as a lesser included charge sticking.

If voice analysis confirms Martin as the one screaming in the background of that one 911 call, Zimmerman's toast.

Re: I'm calling it: Gingrich/Rice in 2012

I'm sorry but the notion that it's ok to leave lackluster companies alone to founder is a recipe for failure on a much bigger scale. Capitalism is harsh sometimes, but, even "vultures" do us all a service by cleaning out the carrion. This applies equally to both road kill and to companies...

Re: I'm calling it: Gingrich/Rice in 2012

Three days ago I would have said Gingrich was done, but he came out swinging in the debate and said what we all wanted to say to the press and it helped him big. I think Newt is probably the most intelligent person in the running but he's being stupid in attacking Romney's financial success. After ...

Re: I'm calling it: Gingrich/Rice in 2012

Huntsman was too sane and rational. Not enough fire-breathing.

Face it, the republican primaries are about 'How far ultra-conservative can you go..' and then the nominee has to course-correct himself for the general election to appeal to the rest of the country.

The house did, but not sure the senate ever picked it up.

Re: NYC testing a device to recognized concealed handguns

Blatant warrantless search.

NYPD is already hip deep in unconstitutional 'stop and frisk' violations of the fourth.

90% of those 'stopped and frisked' are not arrested, and it just so happens that 85% of those stopped are non-white. Coincidence? I doubt it.

Re: Wikipedia and others down for 24 hrs

No, the house version is dead, but the senate version is.. uncertain, though not likely. It theoretically could get passed in the senate and get reintroduced in the house and pass. At this point, the blackout is more of a token measure just to express how horrible this bill would have been. Even a s...
