So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

It's time to say adios to Texas and this forum. I enjoyed the people, online and in person, but I realized I don't have the patience to stay in Texas for the long haul. When I moved here, I had an exciting new job opportunity and a romantic view of Texas gun laws. Fortunately, the job was good. :lol...

Re: May Employers fire Employees for Defending Themselves?

Every little while these cases and new ones crop up. The short answer is, "It depends." I think a shorter answer is "Yes". :iagree: I have the right to free speech but if I say bad things about my employer, they can fire me even if what I said was true. I don't know what Utah la...

I think we're already seeing how he really feels about gun rights for the common man, now that he doesn't have to worry about being reelected.

The occasional comment is one thing but I don't think many adults like being nagged.

Re: Yet another questionable dog shooting by a LEO?

I also cited a Dept. of Justice report issued in 2012 which "emphasized that serious dog bites in the line of duty were very rare, and no particular breed is especially dangerous, so officers have little reason to feel fear when encountering a canine in the performance of their duties. When an...

Re: Texas September renewal with valid Utah license

That language for carrying past expiration was removed because an unintended consequence would have been Texas CHL's having to go through NICS checks again. The exemption does not apply if the license period is longer than 5 years. I thought they were valid no more than 5 years from the date of iss...

I think it would be better to drop them off in the Amazon rainforest with the clothes on their backs and the contents of their pockets, and see who makes it back. :anamatedbanana

Is it wrong that my first thought when I saw the headline for the news article was "96 percent of young people hurt in assaults owned a hoodie."

In the second case, why didn't they also take the child into custody.

Weren't they worried he was a flight risk?

NOTE: The AT&T Center is city owned AND improperly posted with 30.06 signs. I know there have been plenty of discussions on city-owned buildings and 30.06 signs--that is not my question. I am only curious what the consensus is on whether concealed handguns would be permitted. I think you can we...

Re: It's called Operation Troll The NSA.

The checks and balances disappeared when Senators became elected directly by the people instead of by the states. The rational behind a House and a Senate was that the House would represent the People and the Senate would represent the States. Now, we have, in effect, 2 houses representing the Peop...

Re: Special Session -- 2013

While it is true that the Governor can not pass legislation by himself, he can, in point of actual fact, "simply add" legislation to the call to the legislature for the special session. That is precisely what he has failed to do. It is true that he has signed a number of bills which have ...
