Re: No-Win Situation: I'll mind my own business!

One of my chief problems -- in retrospect -- was that I had only one level of force to apply if words didn't work. If I'd had pepper spray, or a cane, I might well have used it to try to stop the two strangling Yellow Shirt. As it was, if words were unsuccessful, I would have had no option open exce...

Re: Moving to California

Welcome back to Texas! We may not be perfect, but at least here you can shoot back! I grew up in Calif., and people are shocked by the number of times I was touched by violent crime. I was in a "nice" middle class area of N. Calif., and my story is not unusual. I knew people who had been s...

No-Win Situation: I'll mind my own business!

Scary incident on Monday, May 30th: I was walking home from my mother-in-law's house, where I was helping out by changing out a hose bib. I had a "Jack Bauer bag" with me, with a few wrenches, a screwdriver, teflon tape, etc. Holstered in appendix position was a Kel-Tec P-11 in a Galco &qu...

Re: Kel-Tec P-11

I consider the P-11 and other subcompact 9mm pistols to be best for experienced shooters. I love my P-11: it's light, small, accurate (with a lot of practice!) and shoots a serious caliber. It is not "fun" to shoot for many people, especially novices. I can say the same for lightweight .38...

Re: WTB Rossi R92, 357 Mag., 24-inch barrel

I've checked all over creation, and .357 leverguns are as scarce as an honest used car salesman. Just kidding! Anyway, the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of a long-barreled .45 Colt levergun, so that's what I chose. I picked it up today, and I'm very, very pleased. I can't wait t...

Re: WTB Rossi R92, 357 Mag., 24-inch barrel

I've called Rossi and asked when they were going to produce more. The gun is in production, but they couldn't tell me more than that. Davidson's was helpful, but basically echoed what RECIT said: the .357 levergun is one of the most popular firearms out there, right now. The Davidson's rep pointed o...

Re: WTB Rossi R92, 357 Mag., 24-inch barrel

The name comes from a long time ago (~30 years). Dirty Bob Grundman was my character in a post-apocalyptic dice-and-paper roleplaying game called Aftermath. I work in a field (education) where my name may be "googled" at any time, so I keep a fairly low profile with my hobbies. I shoot at ...

WTB Rossi R92, 357 Mag., 24-inch barrel

Greetings!

I'm looking for a Rossi R92 levergun, in .357 Magnum, with the 24-inch barrel. Would prefer stainless, but I'm willing to go with a blued gun, if the price is right. Anyone wanna help a guy in San Antonio?

Thanks,
Dirty Bob

Re: .357 options

If you want a belt gun that's fairly easy to carry IWB or OWB and shoots like a bigger gun, I like the 3-inch Ruger SP101. I personally find it to be the best compromise in weight, size, and shootability in a .357 Magnum. I found the stocks too small and use a hard nylon Hogue Monogrip. It makes .38...

Re: Moving to California

What with the high taxes, the lack of jobs, the mess that is the real estate market, and the anti-business state govt., the middle class is leaving CA at a rate of thousands/month. I was shocked when I heard that for the first time. At the rate they're going, soon the only people who'll be able to l...

Re: Your Conversion Experience?

Like many of ya'll, there was not so much a conversion experience. Although my folks were hardcore lefties who were rabidly anti-gun, I saw the need for people to arm themselves, even as a kid. I'm extremely polite and peaceful, but some folks just won't leave me alone... I had a lot of violent enco...

Re: Shooting the 40-Caliber Hi Power...

Great review, as always. I never wanted a P-35, until I started reading your articles. I've resisted, though your write-ups talked me into an SP101. No regrets, there. It's every bit as good as you said. Were you able to get a sense of muzzle flash/blast with the .40 Hi Power? It seems that the Brow...

Re: Shooting a BB gun in back yard

An air rifle fired from inside your house, through an open window or door, at a target outside, will capture much of the noise, if the gun muzzle is inside the house. I once knew a retired Master Chief Gunner's Mate (SEAL) who kept his fruit trees free of starlings by shooting through an open window...

Re: More pics! - My homemade shoulder holster setup

Thanks! I kinda' hate pocket carry, mainly 'cause my pocketses are already full! I've tried rear pocket carry, and it works very well with a P-32 and an Uncle Mikes #1 pocket holster, but it's inaccessible when driving. I hate unholstering a gun and placing in the center console, so this carry puts ...

Re: More pics! - My homemade shoulder holster setup

If you do some googling on the topic of making a kydex knife sheath, you'll probably learn a lot. The tools and materials do not have to be expensive, and you can learn as you go.

All my best,
Dirty Bob
