Re: Entrance into NRA AM

So membership services was able to give me my number but it still won't let me log into the system to print my ID. So I'll show up in the morning armed with my number and go from there and see how it goes. Bringin my son along with me for the day. Raising them right...just like you need to do with t...

Entrance into NRA AM

So I recently had my plans for this weekend change and am unexpectedly in town so I'm going to the NRA AM. But, embarrassingly, I only recently got around to actually joining the NRA. They are slow to send out packets and membership info and I have not received my membership card for the NRA which I...

Re: Is Verizon being foolish

How does that work with roaming? Its the same sort of roaming you would have with Tracfone/AT&T. It is seamless in the US and there are no charges. If you go out of the country, I'd suggest a local SIM. I'm not sure how if they have roaming agreements out of the country at all but haven't seen ...

Re: Is Verizon being foolish

So I've been helping folks to convert to StraightTalk. Its just Walmart's version of Tracfone. But the deal they have is $45 for unlimited everything. That's voice, texting, and data. And the thing that is cool is that its actually on the AT&T network. What that means is that you can buy a phone...

Re: tactical boots

I have tried many many different ones and I now only wear Oakley boots. I have 3 pair right now I think. They offer them in lots of sizes, fabrics, soles, etc. I often wear them for events where I'm on my feet for 12-18 hours a day 3-4 days in a row. Can't beat them in my mind...or on my feet ;-)

Re: Verizon Wireless theater 30.06 or 51%

Yeah I went to the Weird Al concert there a couple months ago. Had to make a walk back to the truck after seeing the sign right above my head as I was about to enter. Its the right verbiage and size, etc. The other CHLers with me had apparently looked it up on texas3006.com and left their stuff in t...

Re: Nevada now accepts Arizona CCW

They really don't recognize there own. Something about you have to be qualified on the gun you carry. Then can't switch without getting qualified again. The current rule is that you have to qualify with every gun you might carry. Most of the classes are held at ranges where they have a lot of renta...

Re: Non Resident Permits

Reiterating that AZ appears to be the best solution to add a few more states. They do not have a resident vs non-resident permit, they only have one. But they accept non-residents for permitting if you have another license and show proof of training from other states. TX CHL is one of those that the...

Re: Nevada now accepts Arizona CCW

And my packet from AZ is on its way toward me right now. Just hit their website, punched contact, asked for them to send me a packet at name/address and would be using my TX CHL as my proof. Got response in 11 minutes. Its on its way and super quick and painless!

Re: Instructors Class, What's it Like?

The question asked by the instructor when we started was: Is there a 30.06 at the door? No Did anyone give you verbal notice about carrying concealed in here? No Are we in a prohibited location? No Then what does that mean? That you can carry concealed here if you already have your CHL. But note the...

Re: Aug 1-4 class

I'm betting that by the time that you hear of a class date that the class is already practically full. Since there are currently about 2 classes per month every other month (that is 2 in June, 2 in Aug, 2 in Oct...) that would indicate that at about 150 students (they take 80 per class) have signed ...

Re: Instructor's Renewal Test? Really?

I think that Sgt Bamsche said he was going to start the process of creating an actual instructors test with different questions. As well, he needs to go through the student test and update it and get rid of the trick questions in there. Nothing like double or triple negatives to trick you up on a tr...

Re: Long Class vs. Short Class?

We talked about those classes in my class a couple weeks later. I think it was determined that a class that long didn't really work out well. So I'd guess that it would work out to either be that the shorter classes are held at a different time instead of trying to combine the two into one class.

Re: Just Got My Instructor's Course Packet

Hope Dan Walker is no longer chief instructor there. Took my course in 1999 and he failed me for having 51 bullet holes in my target, and made me leave the range (using revolver). The LEO 3 persons down only had 49 holes in his target ( at the closest range). HE OVERRULED the other instructors, who ...

Re: Just Got My Instructor's Course Packet

There's a lot of makers conspicuously absent: HSM, Privi Partizan, Monarch, Double Tap, Cor Bon, Mag Tech, Aguila, etc. Dollars to donuts there are at least a few that show up with ammo that doesn't quailfy. There's also a requirement that the hearing protection be over the ear so no plugs. Bet som...
