Re: Melting lead in a teflon coated pan

I did my first lead meIt by filling my 3QT pan about 3/4 full of range lead, cranked up the heat and ended up with 11 ingots about 20 oz each and equal amounts scrap. The worst part was the smell. I live in a closed in suburban area and am afraid it could alarm the neighbors. The worst part was when...

Re: Had to prove a "movie" point to my kids

I was disappointed in the blood drinking ritual in the second movie. Aside from that, the first one was in the middle of nowhere, the second was mostly urban settings.

Re: Lone Survivor Movie

I really liked the book I almost think it would have been better to see the movie first, then read the book. Reading the book, it was hard to visualize the forest in Afghanistan. I always see it as dry and rocky. I also thought that the movie didn't put enough emphasis on the friendship he made with...

Re: Melting lead in a teflon coated pan

I have a 3QT Stainless steel pot I picked up at Goodwill for about $3. I guess I'll use that or maybe go back to Goodwill and look for cast iron.

Re: "Two-woman ticket"

I won't vote for her, but aside from her being pro-abortion, I haven't seen any arguments for not voting for her. "She's bad for Texas" or "she is too liberal" is really not convincing. We all know about her filibuster and egging on an out of control gallery, but what specific a...

Melting lead in a teflon coated pan

I've seen a video, several in fact, where a hot plate and a steel or aluminum pot are used for melting scrap lead for casting into ingots. I'm thinking of starting my casting hobby in this manner. I'm wondering if a teflon coated pan would cause any issues, as I have an old one that I would like to ...

Re: New Range in Austin area ( Buda )

I was wanting to visit tomorrow when I go in to Buda but when I looked at their website I saw this:
We are currenty closed due to maintaince issue to rearrange some shooting positions to better provide a safer and quieter experience for some neighbors.

Re: Logical fallacies of the anti's

The hyperbole argument: "Since you believe in the 2nd amendment you must think that everyone should own a tank or a bazooka and hand grenades!" Regarding the OP, you made a very thorough and detailed list of arguments and their fallacies, but your TLA's left me wondering... what is "D...

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Lockdown at US Capitol following reports

U.S. Capitol Police on the plaza around the Capitol said they were working without pay as the result of the shutdown. Unpaid... out of the goodness of their own hearts? .... deferred pay? Does this mean they were actually off-duty cops? Are they allowed to carry in D.C. off-duty? It just seems odd.

Re: Missouri Bullets .45 ACP special

So, are 200gr SWC not suitable for .45LC? Missouri sells 200gr RNFP and 255gr SWC for .45LC but not these....

ETA: I've found that these 200gr SWC do not load well in some 1911's so maybe they are meant for revolvers?

Re: Word use that drives you up the wall!

Has anyone mentioned "Common Sense"? It's used so extensively on both sides and it means absolutely nothing except as an argument that what other people think is wrong if it doesn't match the opinion according to the one using that term. It drives me up a wall. If both sides of an argument...

Re: Chris Christie in 2016

If the Republicans nominate Christie, I may sit out the 2016 Presidential election for the first time since 1968. I think a lot of good Republicans like me might do the same. That would be a shame. Widespread voting for a third party candidate would send a much stronger message to the party than no...
