Re: Book Review: The Art Of Modern Gunfighting
If you're far enough into the book, did you have the same reaction I did to the pervasive pro-Hamas fiascos that spread last week across U.S. university campuses like wildfire? Clearly that was well-funded--from somewhere--and centrally planned if not centrally orchestrated; might have been localiz...

Re: Book Review: The Art Of Modern Gunfighting
Thanks for sharing this book. I've added it as a priority to my reading list. My current book, "The Attack" by Kurt Schlicter is a novel but it deals with a potential situation that we might face sooner than many think and offers a perspective about how to deal with it. I think that we hav...

Re: Worst States to own a gun
It is a mistake, I believe, to focus on just gun rights. I believe that personal rights across the board fall in line with ranking for gun limits. Hawaii is almost a totalitarian state and New York, especially NYC is not far behind. Property rights, self-defense, etc. all pivot on the same thinking ...

Re: Police kill man at traffic stop, fired 96 times in 41 seconds
Things don't smell right on this. 1. Plain clothes officers would seem unlikely to stop someone for a seat belt infraction. 2. SWAT teams are not part of the normal traffic stop process. Who called them in and why? If they were already there for the initial stop, why isn't the motive for them being ...

Re: Background Checks Expanded
So here is a question. If I sell my car, am I engaged in the "business" of auto selling? If I sell my old sofa or desk, am i a furniture seller? Most of non-table sellers that I have seen at gun shows are individuals selling their own guns, not guns they specifically acquired for resale. T...

Re: The Joy and Necessity of Driving Liberals Nuts
You all have to read Schlichter’s two novels Peoples Republic and Indian Country. Actually, there are 8 books in the Kelly Turnbull series https://www.bookseriesinorder.com/kurt-schlichter/ My wife and I are eagerly awaiting #9. I'm not sure that annoying Liberals is a good thing. Sure, it is satis...

You all have to read Schlichter’s two novels Peoples Republic and Indian Country. Actually, the Kelly Turnbull series that Schlicter wrote is up to 8 and those of us following him closely are eagerly awaiting #9. While I think he does a great job of mocking our opposition, even he doesn't define th...

Re: More School Guardians?
The sort of resources and ROE customarily used by the military cannot be employed for this, for obvious reasons. It's been fortunate so far, if you can call it that, it's been disordered, mentally disorganized people who have pushed these sort of attacks out of some sort of delusion or unchecked im...

Re: Spare magazine owb at posted business
Well, I'm not quite so sure about that. While concealed carry does maintain tactical surprise, that only comes into play when you find yourself in a confrontation which you may win or lose - and which will be really complicated and expensive either way. A deterrent effect that keeps the valedictori...

Re: TX: Sheila Jackson Lee - I'm back
It would be great if voter's kicked her to the curb for the Federal House seat, too - but I doubt it. Like Marion Berry in D.C., it doesn't matter what she does, the election will go her way. So the rest of us have to believe one of two things. The voting public in her district is beyond stupid or t...

Re: Check on your friends during the holiday season.
I'm so sorry to hear this. We had a couple from our old church lose their teen-aged daughter in the same way at almost this same date. The warning signs where there for her, too, and her parents thought that she had turned a corner. But she hadn't. Having deal with several people with mental problem...

Home Depot Shooting - Flower MOund
This one is very intriguing on several levels https://www.crosstimbersgazette.com/2023/11/30/more-details-released-about-shooting-at-flower-mound-home-depot/ If the newspaper has the facts straight it was a 16yo carrying a pistol concealed while working at Home Depot. Further, the 16yo fired at a fl...

Re: Frisco - Brain surgeon shot at 8 PM with the family home awake.
I'm good with that shoot, but I've often wondered about the legality of "holding somebody at gunpoint" like that, if he tries to leave. So the perp says "OK, OK, I'll leave...." and starts to leave, so you shoot him....? I'm wondering if a prosecutor could go to town with that. ...

Re: Spare magazine owb at posted business
I've never really read how the state defines that but it makes sense that an exposed magazine would not be an issue. Probably not smart though, if you are going to remove the firearm, you remove the magazine as well. And whenever I've worn OWB, I always have a cover garment over it unless I'm takin...
