I seem to remember him passing unlicensed carry out of the committee it was in(the one he chairs). So, to say he is not an improvement over Straus is a little over the top. He isn't my representative, but I would take him over many others even if I wasn't considering his faith an important factor.
His record, according to Empower Texas, has grown steadily worse over time. My representative Tan Parker is in the same position and I would not support him for Speaker either. It was Strauss who bottled up much of the pro-gun legislation in committee over the past 3 sessions. King's record on pro-gun matters (and others) has to be more than one vote for me to want to see him with the Speaker's gavel.
