I'm not so sure that this is a good idea. I am concerned that he officer could misunderstand my my intentions. Handing him the CHL lets the officer take control of the encounter. If for some reason I don't have a handgun on me, I still present my CHL with my license and will announce that I'm unarmed. If I am armed I will let the the officer ask the questions and I will answer his questions(where what and how many)
