It's not a suitable matter for federal legislation. It's already illegal in Texas to allow a child to have unauthorized access to a weapon (PC §46.13). I'd be surprised if there was a state other than Alaska that didn't have a similar law. Exactly. This is a classic case of introducing new legisla...

Re: Stephenville PD Traffic Stop

Two things to take away from this; scanners are nice to have, and I definitely agree with those who say LE should use a 10 code for CHL, rather than telling everybody else with a scanner that I carry. Count on the probability that anyone who bothers to use a scanner is going to know the 10-codes an...

This is really one for Chas to answer - but my opinion is that if you have to ask.... it's probably a school :)

I agree that you should let DPS know. After all, your name is now attached to the range portion of his paperwork for that class. :???: The other alternative is to sit down with him one-on-one and try to straighten things out. Either way, you know about it - so you now have an obligation; if not to t...

Re: Do you prove yourself when you teach?

In CHL classes I usually don't have the time or help to get on the line and fire in front of the class; however, when I teach anything else I ALWAYS shoot some. I know that as a student I like watching my instructor shoot some, it reinforces in my mind that he/she knows their stuff. Ya'll too? I wi...

I'm betting that a smart lawyer and the right jury could ruin your day on this one.... ...I don't believe we can afford to play dumb, dress anyway we want...and then plead "It wasn't my intention" if we get called out on the carpet. While it may not end in a conviction, it is not good PR ...

Yup - you are still "legally" concealed and are, therefore, protected under the law as long as you did not INTENTIONALLY fail to conceal the handgun.

However, that does not mean that the people who saw you "print" won't call the cops ;)

You are absolutely correct, sir - That's EXACTLY the message that most of us should walk away from this with. I do a disarm technique when teaching weapons retention as part of the "action is always faster than reaction" bit. I have yet to have a student actually get the shot off - in fact...

The smallest caliber you may qualify with is a .32 - there is no minimum caliber requirement when you carry.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not think you can watch these techniques on video and be able to do them without getting yourself shot.......everyone. New students always get "shot" the first few times they practice these techniques. I should also stress that these techniques should...

Sure they do. I've seen em. Perhaps I should have said that they're not "designed" to fragment; especially since significantly higher velocities are required to have a round fragment reliably. I didn't mean to suggest that they CAN'T fragment. Sorry. You are forgetting the mechanics of fl...
