Re: Why Use Eye Protection

I'm an Ophthalmologist. I've operated on quite a few eye injuries from firearm misadventures in my >30 years of practice (although not as many as due to fireworks), most of them in a Trauma Center setting and the military. Although the technology to repair serious eye injuries has improved a lot ove...

Re: SA International Airport

Unless there are stupid 07 and 06 signs posted, the terminal is not off limits to law-abiding citizen. Of course once you are past the TSA check point, you will be defenseless. And even if there are 06 and 07 signs posted, they are illegal and hence not regulatory and many still go in armed anyway....

Re: Surprisingly fast

For my son's 21st birthday, my wife and I paid for his LTC application and class. Had the class on 15 December, received his LTC today, 26 December. Now, that's what I call quick service!

Re: UNT Dallas School of Law suspends student, possiby in part because he owns a firearm

Thanks for posting. My youngest son (a Junior at A&M) is taking the LSAT and applying to Law Schools this Spring. I when I show him this, I know he won't be applying to UNT! For his 21st birthday, we paid for his LTC application and class. He will be taking it this Winter Break.

Re: Prof shoots himself in arm in bathroom

I read a good novel called "One Second After" by John Matherson, in which cigarettes and rounds of ammo are used as currency in a post-apocalyptic United States. Food became a problem after the first winter, when all of the dogs and squirrels were gone. A very believable scenario.

Re: Carry gun in Big bend

I always carry when hiking in National Parks. Most of my trips are in the Southwest. Lots of critters to defend against (human and animal). The sign below is in Coronado National Park (S. AZ), which abuts the border with Mexico. Almost every other hiker we saw on the trail was open carrying. The Par...

Re: What would you do

Does a third party have the right to draw weapon and defend guy #1? Absolutely. The thug could have easily killed him. I like to think that I would have drawn, yelled for the thug to stop a few times, and if he didn't, or he advanced on me, I would have popped him. If he ran out, I would have held ...

Re: Carry while Backpacking

I hike a lot in the Southwestern US. Never go without at least one firearm (in addition to all my other survival gear). I usually carry my Sig 239 in .40 cal. I just bought a Chiappa Ridgerunner takedown rifle in 45-70 for a longer engagement range. My son will likely pack that, since he is 6' 4&quo...
