Re: Lubbock CHL Instructors

Do y'all have any recommendations for an instructor for a new chl? I have noticed a couple sources who have advertised their price for the chl around here and I'm not willing to spend 150+ on a chl class. I don't care if they feed me lunch or take me on a horse ride. I just want to take the class a...

IIRC, they started as an instructors association. Don't think so. Even now, with the exception of the URL address, the only place Instructor appears in their name is in the bylaws. Everywhere else, their name is given as Texas Concealed Handgun Association. About a year ago, this group had merger d...

This subject comes up here every once in awhile but I don't recall anyone on this forum who ever had the occasion to refuse consent during a traffic stop. If there is someone who refused I am interested how the LEO reacted. I refused after a Highway Patrol officer out of Lubbock wanted to search my...

Other options would be a Taurus lightweight .38 with shotshells, or a similar S&W. I carry an old .38 loaded with CCI rat shot whenever I have a group on one of my canoeing or kayaking trips. Otherwise, during snake season I keep it in the door pocket of my pick-up. The .38 rat shot works great...

Pretty strange. Will await more on "totality of the circumstances". Being marginally acquainted with the people involved, I can tell you there is a lot more than is being reported currently. In addition to the lack of info regarding the circumstances of the event, there is a lot of person...

I have never seen a mountian north of Crane. Go south of there and you will find plenty. :fire :fire   I have tracked a mountain lion in western Terry county, and was called about one that supposedly had been hit on Highway 62/82 25 miles SW of Lubbock. It was gone when I got there, and...

We (CHL forum members) could create the Texas Professional Concealed Handgun Association. We would elect a board of directors and create professional levels of training, both practical and classroom. We could have members apply for levels of different levels of status that show progressive amounts ...

If the facts are anything at all like what's presented in the story, it's a good shoot, IMHO. Of course, the Lubbock paper is already mixing up the terms "victim" and "offender" while they sing praises to someone who broke into another's home at 3 AM. Friends mourn death of shoo...

I have in my files a form to be signed by a physician who gives out such advice. The general idea is that if the physician is going to give out such advice, they need to sign that they are trained and knowledgeable in the area of "expertise." When I get back to my office, in a day or two, ...

Uh...Texas law as to what constitutes effective notice does not make any distinction between private residence or public business.

2) TTU has large 30.06 signs at all entrances to campus. Where??? I have been going to school there for 4 years and have not seen one sign related to firearms except for in the stadium parking lots, and those weren't 30.06. Have you seen these recently or back in the day? The ones I mentioned in ea...

Same here, except I drew the "short" license first time around.
