Re: Response From DPS Regarding Policies When Encountering C

Given that there is now no penalty for failing to show your CHL, one approach would be to just hand over your drivers license. If the LEO runs the license and identifies you as a CHL holder, and then asks if you are armed, you could say yes, and apologize for your oversight while then handing over ...

Re: Friendswood: Man charged after "pulling gun" on salesmen

It will be interesting to see what comes out on this one. I sure hope that there is some solid evidence that the homeowners gun actually left it's holster, and not just that he was open carrying, to support an arrest. As noted, with the prevalance of smart phones, the "victims" likely both...

Re: Making an Offer on a Gun?

It's no different than anything else. Recently, I negotiated the price of carpeting for my house and saved $600 from the first number I was given. I also negotiated the price of a new car, saving several thousand. You can offer a lower price for anything. The worst someone can say is "no"....

Re: would you ignore this sign (30.03 vs. 30.06)

It sounds like the doctor is trying to drum up business by purposely creating a higher likelihood that a violent assault will be committed on their premises. Pretty unethical behavior if you ask me. Kind of like a car repair center requiring you to drain all oil and then rev your engine to 5,000 RPM...

[quote="Salty1"]Although I strongly believe in ones right to carry I also strongly believe in ones property rights. I personally look at the 30.06 site ocassionally although I rarely have a need to check for prohibited locations. If a person decides to post their business my alternative is...

Re: Bad Experience

Wouldn't walking out without paying be theft? I am not a lawyer, but I don't think it's theft when you refuse to pay for something you never received. When you go to a Hooters, a large part of what you are buying is the ambience. The manager refused to provide that and if he expected full payment, ...

Re: Spoetzl Brewery Gift Shop in Shiner

Ok, let's try to clear it up for anyone who is confused. The 51% law is solely pertaining to income received from sales for on premises consumption. The law is Government Code section 411.204 and it specifically says "derives 51 percent or more of its income from the sale of alcoholic beverage...

Re: A "first" when stopped by DPS last night

"You do not have permission to search my vehicle. Is there anything else you need, officer, or can I go now?" Did the trooper search the vehicle? Or just disarm the driver/CHL holder? No consent needed to disarm Government Code 411.207.  AUTHORITY OF PEACE OFFICER TO DISARM. (a) A peace o...

Re: 30.06 AMC Theaters

That said, if the sign is not anywhere near any of the multiple entrances to the location, then I would argue that it is not "displayed in a conspicuous manner clearly visible to the public". This is similar to a business that has multiple entrances that are commonly used and only posts a...

Re: 30.06 AMC Theaters

Either way, the location still seemed to not be following the law. The signs have to be posted at every entrance, and if you can "enter" the theater without going to the ticket window, that would be incorrect signage. This is very wrong. See the part I emphasized in red below. It does not...

Re: Don't Deliver Pizza After Dark In Detroit!

This policy isn't that unusual. In the early 90's I worked for a Pizza Hut in Tacoma Washington, and there was a section of our delivery area that we would not deliver to after dark. The more unusual policy is that of sending armed escorts along on delivery runs. Kind of like the old days with someo...

Re: In my quest for a pocket pistol, I have questions...

I went through a number of guns in my personal quest. I had a Kel-Tec PF-9, then a Taurus 709 Slim. Both were good choices, and would get the job done. Of these two, I liked the Taurus a bit better overall, but the Kel-Tec was more accurate. I finally settled on a Kahr PM-9 and also a J-Frame. I rot...

IDK, Starsky used to pay $20 to his informant, if I recall correctly.

Re: Do you ask your passenger...?

This is but another reason to not submit to searches. "What do you have to hide?" It is not that you have anything to hide. YOu do not know what is there, especially in rentals and used vehicles. Don't forget valet parking. I'm too cheap to valet park. I hardly ever valet park b...
