Re: SB 2146: School Carry

UPDATE ON SB2146 (Licensed School Concealed Carry) I just got off the phone with the policy analyst that was assigned to the bill in the State Affairs committee. Her job is to give the committee a summary on what the bill does, reach out to constituents on both sides, and then pass it on to the comm...

Re: SB 2146: School Carry

Ok, a hearing request was sent and received by the Senate State Affairs committee. I humbly ask all of you to call the chair, vice chair, and the State Affairs committee to request a hearing. The committee phone number is 512-463-0380. If you need an example of what to say: "Hi, my name is ____...

Re: SB 2146: School Carry

Ok, the bill has been referred to the Senate State Affairs committee. Phone calls to the committee chair and members to get a hearing scheduled would be greatly appreciated. Also, calling the senator in your district to ask them to support and co-author the bill would be really helpful as well. Than...

Re: SB 2146: School Carry

Hi everyone, I haven't posted here in a really long time but I saw you guys discussing this bill and wanted to jump in because the bill is a project I've been working on for the last two and a half years. As Srothstein points out, the language doesn't change anything for private schools, although th...

Re: Baylor Medical Plaza

That makes perfect sense. Thanks for pointing that out. I was reading that section on my phone yesterday so I must have grazed over the last part. I spend a lot of my time staring at computer screens so I've developed the bad habit of skipping over things when I'm reading. I'm trying very hard now t...

Re: Baylor Medical Plaza

Ok, that sounds about like what I expected. I figured there would be some reason I couldn't carry there. The no carrying in hospitals comes from the 2009-2010 pdf on the TXDPS website. I figured that would be the most current source. Could you guys direct me to something more accurate? Thanks again ...

Baylor Medical Plaza

I make weekly visits to Baylor Medical Plaza and I noticed a sign at the entrance that says "State law prohibits carrying handguns on these premises". Now, I've been abiding by what that sign says but I wanted to ask if anyone knows if that actually applies to CHL holders. I know we can't ...

Re: HB 2756 Open Carry bill reported favorably

Our 2A rights have been infringed upon for more than 150 years now. I hope it doesn't take as long to get it all back, but it is going to take some time and thoughtful planning, as opposed to a "gimme everything right now or I'll call you an anti" approach. Even some native born Texans ha...

Re: HB 2756 Open Carry bill reported favorably

I appreciate the welcome. I'm currently living in Richardson and I like it very much. It doesn't really come as a surprise to hear you say we had it easier. I would have figured Texas, of all places, would have allowed open carry from the beginning. On the other hand, you did have a restaurant carry...

Re: HB 2756 Open Carry bill reported favorably

I figure it's about time I posted on here so here's my perspective on this. I moved here from Tennessee nearly a year ago and I'm still kind of acclimating to the differences in carry laws and legislation and the overall environment in which we operate. One of the huge differences I've noticed is th...
