Re: another 30.06 question

Another issue mentioned above is the enforceability of a sign. There is a difference between... "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service", and "No one without a shirt or shoes may enter" The first sign only states that one can not expect to be served, while the second unambiguously condi...

Re: another 30.06 question

I don't see 30.06 as a sacred property right but rather a public accommodation issue. Anyone who opens their property to the public must agree to not discriminate against various classes, which in my opinion should include legal carriers. Along with that, property owners who don't post should be sh...

Oh no. Not that far. I'm collecting all of my research material now and finalizing the outline. It will be awhile.

Re: Is it legal? Sign split in two...

I have been doing research for a book I am writing and in that process I have read and studied literally hundreds of appellate cases on various parts of our gun laws. What I am learning...and I would not have guessed this...is that at the appellate level there is a much greater adherence to tiny det...

Re: Carrying an empty holster

Every day.

Can't take the fun into work so we park outside the fence, leave the gun in the car, and walk in with an empty holster.

I carry open so my empty holster is clearly visible. Same with any .06/.07 venues.

My holster is not on the statutory prohibited list.

Need info on qual for instructors

I cant find any official info on this.

Can someone tell me and give the reference to the following please...

Do instructors renewing our certificate have to shoot both revolver and semi-auto in two separate set of 50 round quals? Or do we only shoot with one?

Thanks,

Re: One in the pipe for newbies like me

The fact is that so much training is expensive, far away and time consuming that it loses priority to many folks. Many ranges discourage drawing from a holster and rapid fire. I agree with everything you said up until this sentence. Dry firing is cheap, blue guns that are exactly like your gun are ...

Re: One in the pipe for newbies like me

Oh I agree. One can overthink all of this. HOWEVER.... We seem to bounce between two extremes. Either LTCers overthink the scenario or they do little or no training. You can never over train, in my opinion but there is a minimum level of competency needed. But you can not NOT train and expect that y...

Re: One in the pipe for newbies like me

Yes, never draw the weapon unless you are prepared to used it...even as a threat against force as per 9.04. And even then the very last thing one does before firing is to put the finger on the trigger. At all other times...and I mean ALL OTHER TIMES....the finger is indexed against the side of the f...

Re: Another Use Of Force Question

I'm discussing a passive trespasser here...just to exercise our minds with the analysis...... Yes you can "hold" the trespasser at gunpoint. Yes it is a technical use of force. But what are you threatening by pointing your gun at him ( in this specific scenario)? I'll answer that.... Nothi...

Re: Another Use Of Force Question

Yeah, there must be a reasonably perceived threat of force or deadly force to justify a necessary response. If the guy just sits down on your sofa, asks you for some refreshment and smiles, you won't be able to justify anything other than calling the police. But, as was stated, I would have the too...

Re: Another Use Of Force Question

Interesting question.

Here's my question...which force could you use and what is the legal authority for using force against a peaceful trespasser who refuses to leave?
