Re: AEA - Prayers - RIP

Wow. Horrible news to read. I never had the pleasure of meeting Alan. For those who know his family, please extend the condolences of folks like me on the forum. Will be praying for his family and friends to find comfort in these difficult times.

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...

I can't imagine why the recoil characteristics would have changed. It's the same caliber. It's the same recoil mechanism. It's the same barrel length. Have you shot any other .45s while it was out for repair? BTW, I haven't had mine to the range yet since I got it back the other day, but I have dry...

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...

Follow-up range report from my last post... I did notice some sponginess the first few magazines. I think somewhere between seventy-five and a hundred rounds down range that started to smooth out some, although I definitely notice the break more than before the repair. All in all the trigger is prob...

Re: Urgent: XDs recall...

Finally got mine back yesterday afternoon. I'm going to try and get to the range this weekend to check out the trigger. Seems okay from the dry firing I've done (no gauge), but the real test will be there. Many thanks for the recommendation on fixing the trigger if it seems too spongy or too hard of...

Re: going on a cruise. thoughts?

Enjoy the cruise! My wife and I have on a bunch of cruises, departing from Miami, Galveston, and New Orleans, going to destinations all over the Caribbean. I wouldn't worry about bringing your own life preserver. They're strategically positioned all over the ship and you'll have a personal one in yo...

Re: Another long-time pet died

Very sorry for your loss. Nothing we can say can really help you through this time, but know we're thinking about you and your wife. A long time pet, such as she was, truly becomes an integral member of the family. I supposed the silver lining is that you a wonderful vet to see her through to the en...

Re: Theis Holster

I've posted recommendations for Tommy Theis holsters here before. I now own three of them (horsehide with kydex clips) and they're of great quality. He's faster and cheaper than similar styles from more popular manufacturers, such as Cross Breed. BAW1967, if you find the holster squeaks a bit at fir...

Re: Harvey Weinstein & Meryl Streep planning anti-NRA movie

Oddly, most of the Jewish kids I grew up with are staunch conservatives. They drilled WWII and Holocaust history into us at religious school (conservative to Orthodox Judaism), but at the temple across town (reformed Judaism) the kids were not exposed to the history of the Holocaust. Those kids are...

Re: Chamber or No Chamber

As others have said... Chambered. The internal safety mechanisms of modern pistols will prevent discharge (except for when the trigger is pulled) and racking the slide may make the difference between successfully defending myself and reacting too slowly in a critical situation. My first edc gun did ...
