Re: ...820 pound wild hog in his front yard

This is a big hog.

My friend's brother shot one on our deer lease in Palo Pinto Co. a few years ago that was easily this large. We never weighed that pig. I've always wondered what it would have weighed. Its hooves were the size of those on a heifer calf.

Re: Arlington: Road Rage murder on I-20

I really hope they get this guy. I saw where they got the guy that shot the teenage girl last week. Apparently he turned himself in. I have no words for people like this - just plain evil.

I had the honor of being a judge at the Fort Worth regional science Fair this morning. One of the exhibits was by two young ladies evaluating the effect of a can on rifle accuracy... Our future is in good hands :txflag:

Re: One in a Billion shot - Colorado

I have read of a number of circumstances such as this from WW1 and WW2 - but there would have been a lot more lead in the air in those instances! Amazing.

Re: 1911 suggestions in $500-$700 range??

I have both a Taurus full size and a Para Commander Elite. The PRa is just outside that price range but you should be able to find a Taurus in that range. The Para has been my daily carry for a year it has maybe 700 rounds through it. The Taurus was my carry gun for 6 years or so and it still goes o...

That is very cool. Johnny Hurtado is a friend - we were in grad school together at A&M. He is a great guy and I don't doubt he had something to do with getting this ceremony moved up. Outstanding!

Re: What are you currently reading?

+1 on books by Brandon Webb. I particularly liked Red Circle . I'm currently hooked on fictions by Bernard Cromwell. The Sharpe's series of historically based fictions are very entertaining. If you liked the CS Lewis Hornblower series of books, you will enjoy Cromwell's Sharpe's books. Its a fun way...

Co- owner of Fuzzy's is a friend and he would have no problem with CHL. I have no issue with a 30.07 sign. It will not affect me.

Re: San Bernardino Shooters Gun Purchases

After I wrote my original post I found this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AR-15s_in_California The key seems to be no detachable magazine and mag < 10 rds. Maybe that's what they were. Looking at a photo of their weapons, the magazines were detachable. This is all semantics obviously - the main poi...

San Bernardino Shooters Gun Purchases

Have others noticed that the press was quick to report that the "guns were legally purchased"? Yesterday I heard a clarification of that statement saying that the handguns were legally purchased. The rifles were apparently bought on a straw purchase by the neighbor. How can they call this ...

Re: Historical realities

The 2nd Amendment does not have the word guns or firearms in it. It says arms which imply all manners of military implements. Rapid fire (in a relative sense), multi shot breechloading weapons did indeed exist in the 1780s when the US Constitution was crafted. They were just bulky and expensive. The...
