I shall Try Again - New IDPA Rules

Since the question below was never answered and it got hijacked or morphed into a SO recertification topic, I will post it again. Please folks, stick to the question at hand below Anyone know when the IDPA rules are supposed to change. I heard they are changing the points down to 1 second, but I als...

Re: Breath Taking No Knock Atrocity

No Knock Warrants are a sign of laziness, lackadaisical judgment, and sans professionalism. The problem is that judges hand them out like trick or treat candy. This mindset is also why innocent women and children burned to death at Waco when it was TOTALLY unnecessary. I am a very conservative perso...

Re: revolvers vs semi-autos

Contrary to what some may think, revolvers are not necessarily less complicated mechanically than semi-autos. It’s just that that the revolver doesn’t have to depend on recoil to operate and all of the cartridges are already chambered. Each design has its advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion,...

Re: What’s up with .22 Ammo?

I have a hard time believing the Katy Wal-Mart has .22 ammo. I go there at least once a week and have been for the past two years, and never, ever, have they had any .22 in stock. Where exactly are they hiding it??????????????????????????????

Re: /dash-cam-video-shows-how-simple-traffic-stop-quickly-escalated-when-driver-informed-officer-of-concealed-carry-perm

Tone can indeed be everything - it can often convey more than the words. Was it "could you tell me why you pulled over officer?" or was it "WHAT THE HELL DID I DO!". If I were a cop and someone was armed and had that kind of attitude, I would be on guard also. There are certainly...

New IDPA Rules

Anyone know when the IDPA rules are supposed to change. I heard they are changing the points down to 1 second, but I also heard they are changing how non-threats will be scored. Any information would be appreciated.

Dawson Precision Customer Service

Ordered a set of Dawson Precision adjustable sights (fiber optic - front and back) for my Glock 19 Gen 4 and went with what they suggested as a front sight height. Turned out the POI was still 2.5 inches high at 15 yards with the rear adjustable bottomed out. Sent them pictures of groups at 7, 15 an...

Re: Admiral McRaven's NPR Interview

I think the campus carry bill may turn out to be worthless - it has no real teeth. My guess is that many (if not all) schools will allow carry in the most restrictive ways possible and make it such a confusing set of "you can here, but you can't here" rules, that it will discourage most fr...

Re: Looking for Gunsmith or Machinist - Houston

Sadly, I could not find ANYONE in the Houston area, or in the entire state for that matter, that was willing to do, or could do this work - and it wasn't that complicated. Found someone in NC more than happy to do the work, knew exactly what I wanted or needed, and was reasonably priced. Guess NC ou...

Re: Looking for Gunsmith or Machinist - Houston

Thanks for the help folks. I have email or contacted a great many machine shops in the area, but they don't really one to mess with a one off or low volume item. Can't say I blame them. Vandenberg is the guy I was thinking off. He did some work for me about 5-6 years ago. Hopefully he can handle the...

Re: Looking for Gunsmith or Machinist - Houston

Gander Mountain, Carters, etc. won't do the kind of work I need done. There was a guy off Old Galveston Road that shows up at gun shows now and again, but I can' remember his name. Most gun smiths just replace parts, etc. I need someone who has a CNC milling machine and knows how to use it on small ...

Re: ISIS Mall Attack - How can we prepare?

Although the "stay out malls" and "stay out of theaters" is sound advice, I believe the question was of the "if you were in a mall" type question. It doesn't look like the question really received any qualifying answers or suggestion yet. Here is mine. The worst case I ...
