Re: This may have been addressed
Example #2 You can only carry the type of gun you qualify with i.e. semi auto or revolver. :banghead: This used to be almost true. You could qualify with a non-semi-auto e.g. revolver or a semi-auto. If you qualified with a semi-auto, you could carry either, but if you qualified with a revolver (NS...

Re: What are you currently reading?
I had the good fortune to read "The Martian" before the movie came out, and boy am I glad I did. I loved the movie. I am going to buy the DVD of it. But as good as the movie was, the book is MUCH better. I haven't seen the movie yet and got the same recommendation from another friend. Loo...

Re: What are you currently reading?
The Man in the High Castle I watched the series on Amazonedout... wondered about the book. Is it any good? It's had a few intriguing juxtapositions from our current society, but overall, it's not really what I expected. Very slow paced, but without deep character development. . . I'm about 80% of t...

Re: WFAA gun discussions this week
From last night. . . after detailing that the law prevents BATFE from maintaining a database to reconcile gun serial numbers to purchasers and detailing that they have to go to the manufacturer, then to the wholeseller, then to the distributor, then to the FFL / storefront, then to the original purc...

I just had a funny image pop into mind:Javier730 wrote:I only had this happen at Academy when buying firearms. The last time i bought one they said they stopped doing that.
Clerk, finalizing the sale: "Would you like me to box this up or did you want to open carry it out today?"

Re: Strange new Walmart ammo policy attributed to Open Carry
This policy makes perfect sense. If you were a bad guy intent on causing harm, once they've walked you past the carts and out both sets of electronic doors, how would you get back in?

Re: WFAA gun discussions this week
Part 3 basically pushed for 1) background checks to buy body armor with the reasoning that felons are not allowed to purchase it, or 2) an outright ban of body armor for all civilians. My initial response is quite simple - there is a myriad of things that felons might be prohibited from purchasing. ...

Re: WFAA gun discussions this week
Also Babe, did you notice that ALL of the shooters were using duty-sized pistols with lots of rounds on tap? Good observation. We've listed a few things that were skewed against the LTCer (I still believe they are OK for the purposes of a training session), but this is a major advantage to the LTCe...

Re: Removing the penalty for carrying past a 30 06 sign?
Why the heck do we not have a sign that makes it a automatic Class A misdemeanor for: I think this is a good observation. As unlikely as it might be to accomplish anytime soon, I do not think this is beating a dead horse. Refining the contentions in the debate to clearly articulate the goal is wort...

Re: WFAA gun discussions this week
"So why is Body Armor so easy to obtain?" hahahaha I laughed so hard I almost spit my iced tea when he said that. I knew there would be sensational angle somewhere - not sure if this is just a great tease or if he's really going after body armor tonight, but it struck me as funny nonethel...

Re: WFAA gun discussions this week
I'm reminded of that courthouse shooting where one of the bystanders shot the BG (who had an AK) at near point blank range CM and dropped him. The carrier was a marksmanship instructor and an excellent shot and I believe he used a 1911. He didn't know the BG was wearing armor and didn't expect him ...

Re: Don't be that guy!
I agree with the video 100%. This is almost exactly what I posted in the threat about gun shows. Your personal defense firearm is only for that purpose on that day. If you need to have it serviced, look for accessories, show it to a buyer, or something else, then unload it, clear it, secure it, put ...

Re: WFAA gun discussions this week
Bret Shipp is as close as we have to an old school investigative journalist in the local TV news circuit. His dad was a long tenured reporter with WFAA and was pivotal in their coverage of the Kennedy assassination. Bret has always seemed to be mostly cut from that cloth. I think it's rare for a sta...
