Re: WSJ article about parking lot laws
Another big-box retailer, Costco Wholesale Corp, explicitly bans its members from bringing guns into stores. The company's weapons policy is posted on Costco.com but not publicly at store entrances. The retailer hasn't adapted new protocols for confronting an armed customer or employee. Did Costco ...

Re: DPS in Robertson County
I haven't really been down that way since Hwy 6 still had the 65/70 nighttime speed limits and one lane construction. That said, I definitely had to slow down in Calvert, Hearne, Riesel, etc. Speed drops down to 55, 45, 40, 35 and then back up to highway speed. I was told that the stretch I was tick...

Re: DPS in Robertson County
I never meant to imply that I was hoping for a 'Get Out of Jail' pass. It was my fault, and I admitted it. The point of the post was to focus more on the CHL/LEO contact. The back story was to explain why I thought he handled it very well especially relative to my previous experiences. By teary, I m...

Haha, I'm jealous. I ended up skipping lunch, but I'll have to remember to pass by that place again the next time I am in Dallas.74novaman wrote:Also, lunch was fantastic. The folks who weren't adventurous enough to wander over to the Caribbean place with us missed out on a great meal.

Re: 05-October: MEDICAL Training/TFR Trauma First Response
I thought the class went really well. got some good info. I think i was expecting it to be more gunshot wound oriented, but "trauma" in general is a real good thing to learn about. thanks for putting this together! In my experience, introductory classes like this tend to favor more broad,...

DPS in Robertson County
I got my second speeding ticket today, the first since I received my CHL. I was driving back to Houston from Dallas after attending the Trauma class earlier in the day. I had been feeling ill since right before lunch (headache and abdominal pain), and as I was driving between Hearne and Bryan, the p...

Ingress Game
This is completely off-topic, but does anyone play the Android game Ingress? It is an augmented reality MMO. I just received an invite, and the premise sounds interesting, but I am not sure how I feel about giving Google more opportunities to data mine on me... http://www.ingress.com/" onclick=...

Re: Home Depot accused of shaking down shoplifters
I've almost forgotten to pay for something before. I ran in to pick up a few items quickly which ended up turning into a few more things than I had planned. However, since I had not been planning to buy much, I hadn't taken a cart. I ended up juggling a few small objects and placed something in my j...

Re: Profiled at WallyWorld?!
I've only seen people have separate receipts for billing purposes (on different credit cards for rewards or credit limit, food stamps, company reimbursement, etc) or to hide a purchase from a SO. I don't like like going to Walmart because it is overcrowded with few lanes open. That and I tend to hav...

Re: Citizens Police Academy
Thanks for the information everyone. At the time I attended Baylor, I had not even heard of CPA or I would have applied then. I suppose as soon as I scrounge up some recommendations, I will start applying now.

Citizens Police Academy
I have a general question for those familiar with Citizen's Police Academies. I have been interested and looked into them for a few years, but I never actually applied. Looking online, it seems like class sizes are somewhat limited? How hard is it to get into/get rejected from one of these? If there...

Re: Question re:FFL & CHL
The fee reduction is a courtesy. Some FFLs have a discount while others do not. The background check is not required although the paperwork still is.
