Re: My first "uh-oh" moment

Just think of carrying like shoes. You probably didn't find shoes that fit you perfectly on your first try, and you probably don't wear the same shoes in every situation.

Don't be afraid to try out different things until you find something(s) that work for you.

Re: Ear protection

Especially at indoor ranges you should always double up. Even with 30db muffs, you are potentially getting blasted with >100db. Even muffs + plugs are only going to reduce the volume ~40db. Anything over 100db can cause hearing damage even with very brief exposure, and even at lower volumes cumulati...

Re: Texas CHL App for Android Iphone

One easy cross platform solution is just to use the google maps API combined with the standard W3C location API.

That covers the bulk of the smartphone market, as well as normal PC users.

I'll poke around a bit when I have some free time.

Re: Texas CHL App for Android Iphone

Someone should check with Russell to see if he minds using the data he's accumulated at texas3006.com. I have already emailed him to see if he would be interested in teaming up. He replied and said he is pondering through possible solutions on how we can accomplish it. :thumbs2: I realize this is r...

Re: Extermely un-nerving encounter.....

If you are really concerned about a holstered gun "just going off" why would you walk around with a holstered gun in your pants all day? I can understand the concerns over getting swept on a draw from a shoulder holster, but this seems an awful lot like refusing to walk through a parking l...

Re: Sig P-239 with nite sites

Went to the range today and put abut 150 rds through my new sig. No malfunctions at all!! Any question about the ergonomics of the sig were answered. In my hands the sig felt good and after the first 3 magazines my bullet placement became more consistent and tighter grouping. I need more practice b...

Re: Sig P-239 with nite sites

If you haven't shot a 239 before, I would recommend doing it first. I bought one for carry because I thought my 229 would be too big, but I loved it. The stock grips on the 239 are weird. Sort of too short, and oddly flat on the front that when coupled with the already top heavy Sig design makes it ...

I agree. I am surrounded by COE land and very little of it is clearly marked.

Re: Where should I carry?

Just a couple of rules of thumb. - Put the gun where your shirt "drapes." If you are broad shouldered, this will probably be at 3:00. The narrower your shoulders the further back it will be, probably 3:30-5:00. - The further back your gun is, the more forward cant you want in your holster ...

Re: WTS (Armory USA) AK47

I assumed he knew USPS wasnt allowed. My mistake. However, the common contract carriers dont require and FFL that I have read. I use UPS and they do not require it, http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/ship/packaging/guidelines/firearms.html?srch_pos=1&srch_phr=firearms" onclick=&quo...

Re: WTS (Armory USA) AK47

$500 plus shipping. Trades now accepted. Will accept cash or USPS Money Orders. Will ship to FFL. Just FYI, if you are shipping in state you don't need to go through an FFL for rifles (unless you want to, of course). Pistols either but it is a hassle since postal places dont know their rules. That ...

Re: Today's Carter Country Add - 9/29 - 21 to buy AR

I would offer that a pistol grip is more than a mere cosmetic enhancement on a long gun. Yeah good point. What about flash hiders? Detachable magazines? Bayonet lug? Barrel shrouds? What is it about the apparently dangerous pistol grip (which can be purchased aftermarket and put on most popular sho...

Re: Today's Carter Country Add - 9/29 - 21 to buy AR

I have to disagree with this. If the law permits it then you should be able to buy it. After all if one is old enough to enlist and fight for our country then they should be able to buy an AR or a shotgun with a pistol grip. To refuse to sell these to people under a certain age because of a cosmeti...
