Re: Would it have been justified?
More thoughts: Like I said in my last post, this incident probably took place in just a few seconds. We in this forum have had 2-3 days to mull this over and you can see the variety of opinions. Think how much time the DA, Judge, Jury, etc will have to judge your actions. Have a special word/phrase ...

Re: Would it have been justified?
This is a great post and great answers. It is a good idea to run scenaios through your mind while you lay in bed at night. There are a lot of what ifs out there. I bet this whole episode only took a few seconds. How many car alarms have we all heard that did not mean something bad was happening. (99...

Re: Hobby Center?
OK, you walk out of the George R Brown Convention Center with your gun zip tied, bullets/mags in a cup, and I agree, you are rapidly approaching the one area that I would for sure be armed. How do you accomplish the reload of your magazines, and reload of your handgun while keeping it concealed? You...

Re: Hobby Center?
Keith B. Your point is understood about knowledge of the posting but a discussion on this forum does not make it fact. It would be up to the arresting officer/court to PROVE you knew of the other postings. I would simply explain to the Officer that the door I came in was not posted and agree to take...

Re: Hobby Center?
This is a great discussion, and not one person has called me an jerk (at least not in writting.) I am playing the devils advocate here. I KNOW what the law says but I also know reality. There were many comments and I will respond to each one as I get the time. I tell my students that there are a lot...

Re: Hobby Center?
This whole section (e) might have been added when Houston said concealed carry was not allowed on city buses. I know there was a big fuss over it. Now, I want to get this straight. All these government entities (city, county, state, etc) that are posting these 30.06 signs on their property are wrong...

Re: Hobby Center?
I am aware of this section of the 30.06 law, but I believe this is open for judicial review. Other areas of 46.035 are very specific in their wording; example,"do not apply" (i) Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c)do not apply if the actor was not given effective notice under Sectio...

Re: Hobby Center?
I will have to do some research on the question of government property and 30.06 signs. Where do the members of this forum get the idea that a 30.06 sign on a government building/property is not valid? Can someone state the law/reference to this belief. I am attending CHL instructor requal in August...

Re: Hobby Center?
I believe the Hobby Center IS legally posted. There is a parking garage right behind the center. You can leave your gun in the car, then retrieve it before you go walking around downtown. I think alot of you are missing the point on "is it a legal sign". Is there any doubt in your mind as ...

Re: On or about?
When the Officer runs your drivers license, they will know you have a CHL. He will then ask if you have a handgun with you. Why do you want to avoid telling them you have a handgun in your vicinity. If you have a CHL, you are not breaking the law (unless you carry where it is not allowed). A CHL tel...
