Re: What is status Restoration of Gun Rights in Austin?

While I'm frustrated with the inaction on gun rights, one thing I love about Texas is the SHORT legislative sessions every two years. No one's life, liberty, or property are safe while the Legislature is in session. Wish we could pay Congress to go home for 18 months of every Congress. :evil2: :iag...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

So is there enough support/time for 1911 to pass? I'm predicting death in the Calendars Committee, but I am no where near the know, let alone in it. I called this a couple of weeks ago. Charles called it before the session even started. There isn't a lot of incentive for lawmakers to pass permit-le...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

In their newsletter today, Austin FFL Central Texas Gun Works writes: HB375 and HB1911 are stalled in various committees. Neither bill is likely to advance to House or Senate floor votes before session ends The owner is active in testifying/lobbying for gun bills, but I don't know if the above is j...

Re: SB 16 - priority bill, reduction of LTC fees

Newspaper article this morning about SB-16 stating that this bill will "strip" millions of dollars from state education funding because of reducing LTC fees. Hmmmm, thought I paid a substantial amount in taxes that fund education/ Why should a DPS licensing program fund other state agenci...

Re: Taco Cabana Open Carry

My thoughts are starting to evolve on signs like this one. When OC first passed, I was really offended by the actions of a few large chains, Whataburger being one of them, who immediately stated that they would ban OC. They made these announcements as much as 6 months in advance, with no evidence w...

Re: Think twice about Springfield and RRA

To do so they need to meet their customers requirements. The only thing this customer requires from a gun manufacture is a well manufactured gun at fair price and supported in customer service for that gun after the sale. I don't go to my favorite steakhouse looking for light bulbs I have no expect...

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute and HB560

Sheesh. So if a business had a 30.07 sign, but no gunbuster sign, and I wanted to go in carrying openly, I could toss my LTC into the glove box before I went into the store. Then I'd be a legal unlicensed carrier.......???? This is all going to be idiotically complicated. You won't find 1 business ...

Re: Cracker Barrel bans guns?

I have OC'd in CB, have seen one other OC in CB ( I may be the poster you are referring to). I have been to several CB locations while OCing and CCing with no issues.

I would be severely disappointed if their stance has changed because my wife loves CB.

Re: What is CSHB 1911?

The 1911 hearing just finished. 1911 was withdrawn and left pending. Is that normal? Encouraging? A bad sign? This is the regular procedure. Bills are almost always left pending after the first hearing and voted on the next week or even later, if at all. Committee substitutes are not published unit...

Tragic Loss in the shooting community

We lost a great guy and a great member of the shooting community this weekend. For anyone who has been shooting in the Houston area, you either know or have met Paul Hoffman. He was active with Team Trainwreck and shot at the PSC IDPA matches on a fairly frequent basis. Paul was killed in a freak ac...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Him getting elected did a lot for gun owners . Removing the restrictions in those locations would be great and important. However, I believe he is dealing with much more urgent and pressing issues at the moment. He has done a lot in the short time he's been in office. Added emphasis mine. I don't s...

Re: Hearing Protection Act of 2017

Admittedly, I surround myself with a lot of like minded individuals. I was having a hard time coming up with arguments that the left could make AGAINST this bill. Suppressors do not make firearms any more or less efficient in the context of being killing machines. As someone with firearm related hea...

Re: Compilation of disqualifications in shooting sports

I have been an SO for a little over 4 years and have had to DQ quite a few folks. Even had to DQ one at IDPA Nationals this year for a 180 violation.

I have been DQ'd for sending one over the berm during a reload at a USPSA match.

Give Orr a try. Fantastic ammo, more reliable and consistent than pretty much any factory brand and made here in Tx :txflag: https://www.orrtactical.com/ Full disclosure, I am sponsored by Orr, but it really is fantastic ammo. I became interested in being sponsored by Orr because I really do like th...
