I hold mine just like any other rifle. All the cool "operator" types are using the Chris Costa extended over hand reach. Apparently it helps you to "drive" the rifle.

There should be markings on the top of the barrel if it is a Colt.

Looks to be an 1849 Pocket Revolver. The grip screw is throwing me off though. So is the cylinder, it looks too big for the frame and there is no forcing cone. :headscratch It looks similar to a Colt Walker.

First 3 rounds down range at 100 yards, factory 120 grain A-max, 2710 fps. Not too shabby.
