just to play devil's advocate...I wonder if this is possibly an unintended consequence of concealed carry...they don't know who is armed and can fight back, so they shoot first. As noted, the crime itself is a rare one. But it's also worth noting that similar patterns have been seen in years past. ...

"Police say the victim, 69-year-old William Sherman, was just getting out of his car when he was approached by the suspect armed with a shotgun. No words were exchanged between the suspect and the victim before two shots were fired." It appears as if this guy might have a fighting chance. ...

Right to Work State

Let us not forget that Texas is a Right to Work State. That means that an employer may discontinue your employment for any or no reason. You as the employee are allowed to discontinue your association with your employer for any or no reason. While this law lifts a crimminal charge from being levelle...

I is one thing to be shot during or right after the crime while the crimminal is still there. The man would be alive today if he did not follow that crimminal. The crimminal shot the concerned citizen after a brief car pursuit. I stand behind what I wrote earlier because we know that the crimminal w...

You are still missing my point.

As much as it would be good to be able to chase crimminals and other wrong doers, the CHL was never meant to be a hunting permit for Felons in Action. The CHL is only their for our immediate self defense and for the defense of third parties. In this particular incident, the robber ceased to be a thr...

Brief experience with the .32 acp Berretta Tomcat

I carried one briefly while borrowing it form a friend. I really liked the tip up barrell and the gun was quite substantial for the little powerhouse it is. The bug that I ultimately chose is the .32 acp keltec P32. I was a fair shot with the Tomcat, but I believe that the P32 is a superior pocket p...

We are all missing the point here!

Everyone who said I would engage this robber in a car chase read further; What if Mr. Jackson managed to draw his weapon in time? He would be shooting from the seat of his vehicle. Next ponder this; what will be the main thing asked in court later? Prosecutor: Mr. Jackson why did you shoot this stel...

Good Advice KB Craig

The whole idea of stopping an illegal attack or attempted deadly crime is to use what is at hand. Afterall, it does not matter how you do it, what matters is that you "stop" the attack or problem as soon as possible. I would like to carry a long arm in the car, but I am a little to worried...

I go with either IWB OWB M1911, FEG PA63, Keltec P11 or pocket carry for my Keltec P32.

I shun shoulder holsters until I can afford one that is better suited to just one pistol.

I did not fly planes:

I did make five jumps from aircraft back in 1990. I sometimes wonder if we made CHL training like US Army Airborne Training, maybe there would be fewer problems with negligent discharges and such. That said, I am probably the biggest and goofy guy around. Mr. Murphy knows me well. This is a good col...

John R. Fuller Horizontal Shoulder Holster Follies:

I was in a HEB one night around 10:00P.M. My pistol, the Hungarian FEG PA63 resided in a no name horizontal shoulder holster, the one with the extra magazine holder on the outside of the holster. Going down the cheese isle, I hear Klickity Klack! What is that? I looked down and thought; hey that loo...

This is an OUTSTANDING! Teaching Moment.

All: Let us examine the set up here. Multiple attackers assault you while you are in a park that is closed to the general public after hours. You are armed with what ever you are armed with on a daily basis. 1. What is your initial reaction? - I say run as fast as you can without laughing too hard a...

Add another "what if?" to this situation.

All: I think that Age Ranger probably handled this the best way he could considering the circumstances. I think that maybe we are concentrating too much on when we should use the deadly force of any kind over another type of defense. I am writing about situational awareness. I hate disarming before ...

Re: Big Baptist Bass in the Choir Loft:

Long Tooth: Thank you for your honesty. I must be honest about church. I sing in the choir and am front and center as I am a bass singer that is both big and loud. I am sure that many would notice the big .45 strapped to the big boy in the choir loft and would probably obcess more over that than wh...
