To the best of my knowledge, no one has attempted any kind of legal shenanigans with the range.

The restoration is going slowly. We got the debris cleared off. There were tons of it, including the trailer. The berms should be rebuilt in April. Then we may have a volunteer day to get some benches rebuilt.

We also need to repair the fence.

I moved down to Galveston last August to start medical school over at UTMB and I am just getting some free time to be able to get some shooting in. I got my CHL a year ago and I have been looking for a range to stay fresh. For the time being I plan on running up to the Texas City range, but from the sound of it I will be wishing for a better option. I will be happy to volunteer some time to help get Galveston's only range back on its feet. If I am going to be on the island for 4 years studying this much, I will need a place to blow off some steam and relax. Let me know if yall ever need any help. I will check back here occassionally.

Is there anything I/we can do to help get this thing going? I live about walking distance and can't wait to get it up again. If I have to go in the with my trusty E-tool and fix the berm, lets git-r-dun. It aint gettin no cooler out here. See you guys at the range.

Repairing the berms is going to require several hundred yards of material. The old material washed away. The work also has to be done to meet certain standards.

Volunteer help is definitely going to be needed to rebuild the benches and sheds.

BTW, a domain pirate stole the domain name of our web site. I don't know how it happened. I'm trying to get it back.

TEXASGIANT, you have an old PM from me.

Ever thought of grpc.com? or grapc.com? or .org? Typing that all out and not misspelling, reminds me of unix commands. :woohoo

Good luck on getting everything back to normal.

Thanks.

The URL was not my idea, though I'm not sure I could come up with something better. Most of the shorter abbreviations are either taken by real organizations (http://grpc.com) or sat upon by cybersquatters, who have seized almost every one- to five-letter domain name that was not already taken.

If someone goes to Google and performs a search for "galveston gun club" and the like, our site comes up first. Google suggests corrections for spelling errors in search terms.

Congratulations! I know its been a difficult year and y'all have probably beat your heads against the wall on more than one occasion trying to the get the range back in operation.
I was down that way a few weekends ago and the berms look good.
Great Work and Thank You for your commitment to the range... It's been there for many years.
Enjoy some shooting. :cheers2:
